Can’t think of any other great films I’ve seen from this year tbh.

I loved the new Ghostbusters film as well. It got a bit silly at times but I think that was very much in keeping with the original films.

They got the spirit of the film just right and I genuinely got goosebumps when I heard the Ectomobile siren (and again at the end when the music kicked in).

Oddly this hasn't featured on here, & if you overlook the poor baddie was a great movie

Why would anyone think Matrix 4 is going to be good? The directors haven't done much of anything good since the first movie 3 decades ago, when they used to be blokes. Doesn't say much for the state of female directors I guess.

I haven't seen that. I'm mainly talking about their film output. They are proving themselves to be more one hit wonders than anything who punched above their weight with the first Matrix.

Musicals are great - I see no reason why they are less believable than any other genre tbh, and I think the choreography and visually interesting editing and staging in West Side Story puts most action movies to total shame.

They make no sense. No one suddenly breaks out into song and dance in real life. Also can’t imagine anyone outside of kids, women or gaays (no offense to either meant) would enjoy them. If anyone ever clockwork orange’s me, it won’t be violence shown whilst my eyeballs are prized open, it will be musicals. I just do not understand them at all.

Some of the greatest movies ever made are musicals, as are some of the best ever episodes of TV, and some of the best playwrights (Sondheim for instance) specialised in musicals. How people breaking out in song is weird but a CGI fight isn't is beyond me - it's no more of a suspension of disbelief than cinema itself.
