Bloody good!!
Respect to the Aussies for putting health before sport

UEFA and the PL ought to do the same with footballers. Not vaxed? registration gets rescinded and you’re not permitted to play
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate this type of view.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's wrong with it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Making the vaccine essentially mandatory for young healthy people when everyone who wants the vaccine has it by now.

That’s wrong imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hear that, but he could spread it too...then again, folk jabbed get it and spread it??

I am eternally conflicted by COVID.

poor Novaxx
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Novax, no play.

Melbourne alone had about 12 lockdowns.

Like EPL players all getting COVID in part due to low Vax take up, the Serb should be jabbed, as a globe trotter too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
i agree

would have been immensely hypocritical of the ozzies to have melbourne under lockdown for most of the last 2 years and allow an unvaxxed tennis star play in the ozzie open

Does beg the question why Tennis Australia were granting a medical exemption that didn’t comply with the entry requirements for the country. Doesn’t matter if they wanted him to play, they had to align with that surely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One theory is that it’s all Australian banter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Granting Djokovic an exemption to play and getting him to fly all the way there, then detaining him 10 hours only to cancel his Visa and send him on another plane out is top banter by the Aussies be fair.

We are heading to a very strange place. In some countries you now can’t enter shops without having been double vaccinated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s called a collective ambition to bring a pandemic to a speedier close. At this point anyone not jabbed really needs to ask themself why they let someone else guide them away from science and into superstition.

There's lots of things that's mandatory to do in certain workplaces. We're not talking about deporting citizens.

True, but we have that for anywhere serving booze here.

Nightclubs closed or shut early

No crowds or smaller football crowds and COVID passports needed

Loads in America losing jobs if not jabbed, including nurses.

I do not know what to think anymore.

We’re very picky about what comes into the country. You get a severe fine for bringing in strawberries or coriander πŸ˜…

Has anyone actually read further than the headline?

It literally says in the BBC article that there was a mistake with his application, as Novak & his team hadn't applied for a Visa that included the medical exemption, which was granted. They just need to use the right bloody forms

They're not taking a moralistic stand on it, it honestly just looks like a bureaucratic thing

I think that accepted his medical exemption, but filed for the wrong kind of Visa. At least it's implied in the article anyway

"His team had not requested a visa that permits medical exemptions for being unvaccinated"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah that’s different then!

Covid-related deaths per million inhabitants:

UK 2,182
Aus 90

There's obviously loads of factors involved in Covid-related deaths, but the extreme measures taken in some countries do seem to have made a big impact.

The question is at which point is the loss of freedom worth it.

I’d be interested to know where the medical exception came from.

Not easy for frequent travellers. Rules changing by the week. Numerous ways to bend rules. Overly complex & bureaucratic forms - UK especially. Now tests being waived - too expensive, not enough but countries till demand them - all channelled private, countries not keeping their websites up to date turning folk back even though they followed the rule published. So many different test by different name, ditto vaccine, ditto approved vaccines and yes different visas for different situations and different rules for different visas. Facking nightmare.
