Rooney was asked at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Sheffield United game how close the club is to having a preferred bidder in place.

"I think we all should know by tomorrow," he said

If this true the EFL ought to be hung drawn and quartered. This getting ridiculous. If we have a preferred bidder with proof of funds ready to go, why would the EFL be placing such demands on the administrators?

Because they’ve dug our grave.

Hope we end up burying them.

The EFL don't seem to have forgiven us for humiliating them over the stadium purchase episode. They have a record of vindictiveness to those who demonstrate their ineptitude. Leeds under Ken Bates suffered similar never ending punishments after he humiliated them by going in to administration as soon as relegation was confirmed thus making their sanctions meaningless.

....and so now we're not allowed to extend players contracts - so Jags can join another club. I just wish we were told just what on earth is going off... it all seems like we're being treated like Mushrooms....kept in the dark and fed shti....

Fuming over this

What an absolute kick in the nuts. And imagine how Rooney must feel after yesterday’s comment which I am sure he truly believed.

Hope it’s not the straw that breaks his particular camel.

In all honesty I've tried to avoid talk of EFL vs Derby and concentrate on the playing side.

The recent request from EFL requiring the Administrators to prove they can cover the day to costs until the end of the season. Now, if a potential takeover is due and they'll be covering the costs going forward why do the administrators need to validate this again, having done so once?

Why was Jags not entitled to play today if his contract doesn't expire until Monday?

Ref back to the takeover, why are the club forced to sell players if a takeover prevents them from having to do this?

I'm not seeking replies like, cos the EFL are corrupt, cheats etc.....we all know. Seeking to understand from their angle why exactly these actions have taken place on the day the potential bidder and new signings were to be confirmed?

It really seems as if our form has spooked the EFL into thinking we may escape relegation.....

Terrible if that really is the case?

This is what Sky Sports are saying:

"Derby hit with fresh transfer embargo | Jagielka leaves club
Derby County have this morning been placed under a fresh transfer embargo, after they failed to convince the EFL that they have a substantive business plan in place for the rest of the season which would guarantee they can pay their outstanding football bills, and fulfil their remaining fixtures in the Championship.

As a result, Wayne Rooney won't be able to make any new signings this month, and he actually stands to lose some players like Phil Jagielka, who has left the club with immediate effect. His contract was due to expire next week.

Sky Sports News has been told there were heated exchanges at Derby's Moor Farm training ground this morning, as the news was relayed to Rooney and his squad.

The administrators called an all-staff meeting this morning to update employees on the latest situation.

Derby's administrators have yet to approve a preferred bidder for the club, though former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley remains ready to table a £50m offer, should he be given the green light by Quantuma, who now run Derby's finances.

There's been no comment on the matter from the EFL today, but they've stressed they're still working closely with Derby to try to find solutions to their financial problems."

That last comment from EFL defies belief.

I'm at a loss for words. Think EFL and administrators owe us some serious explanations.

Where's a decent investigative reporter when you need one???

My take on it is this :
We have to submit the preferred bidder / bidders to the EFL. The EFL have come back and said "We need to know you can survive financially until the end of the season".... this suggests to me that they do not rate (for whatever reason) the preferred bidder / bidders. Why else would they be saying it.... other than being bloody minded of course ??? Quantum need to come clean....

"Championship clubs Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Stoke are also expected to face severe scrutiny as the Football League enters the next 12 months of its three-year profit and sustainability cycle.'

In Boros case, that's not doon enough.

To add insult to injury, the rumours are Jags to Stoke. 😭

I don’t wish ill on anyone but I’m pretty close with Mel Morris and the 💩 he’s left the club in. This could be the beginning of the end. 😡😡😡

at this rate maybe it will have to be the administrators taking the EFL to the courts.

again, like most of our punishments, this appears to be unprecedented.

by forcing the release of Phil, who was a rock at the back, and helping to give us a real chance of escaping relegation, the EFL have single-handedly wiped more value off the club, making it less attractive to potential buyers, and making the job of the administrators more difficult still.

I've raised this before - some months ago. You should all be putting our case to your respective MPs. They have a duty to their constituents and their constituencies would be severely impacted if DCFC disappears.

It is scandalous that two clubs can hold our club to ransom over their ludicrous claims which no court of law would uphold. It is equally scandalous that EFL is supporting these claims. They seem to be treating them as debts. They are not debts until proved and of course they cannot be proved.

EFL are scared stiff of the likes of Gibson. Have they told the Boro rep he must resign from their Board because of the blatant conflict of interest?

Not fit for purpose indeed!

reading between the lines you have to assume Boro and Wycombe are in some serious doo-dah themselves though, they must be relying on this ridiculous fine they're trying to give us in order to balance their own books, the magnitude of it is telling.

If anybody here is extending credit to either of those clubs it might be wise to call it in.
