Gomes probably upset Wolfie. He's a player who benefitted from a loan and also put a pin in his 'we can't register anymore players' mantra.

How prey tell do we unregister Shabani?

Wolves are expected to confirm the £3m signing of Chiquinho from Estoril in the next couple of days

Chiquinho will evidently be joining the Wolves squad and will not be loaned out

Can our squad limit experts enlighten us as to how Gomes slots in, not home grown or under 21 so presumably, he takes a squad place.

As I read it Goldi, the whole month of January is open for transfer of players. At 11pm on the 31st January, clubs will know who they will be registering for the remainder of the season.

I would imagine he'll return to Grasshoppers at the end of the month and therefore he will not be included in the 17 overseas players scenario. If he stays, then the likes of Shabani will be loaned out.

We may now have Chiquinho, (not sure why) who will pose another problem if we don't move someone on.

Just because a player is registered with a Premier League club doesn’t mean that club has to name them in their Premier League squad. In the 20/21 season Ozil wasn’t included in Arsenal’s 25, nor Phil Jones in Utd’s, nor Danny Rose for Spurs or Bolasie for Everton. That clearly usually leads to the player leaving the club, but not always

Would assume Burr would be first name dropped unless he counts as home grown.

After picking up another 3 points against Saints yesterday we currently have 31, the same as we had at this stage in Nuno's 3rd season at the club. Hat's off to Bruno Lage who is achieving this with an inherited squad of players.
15.01.22 - points 31
15.01.21 - points 22
15.01.20 - points 31
15.01.19 - points 29

Next Saturday we play Brentford who, before that, have games against Liverpool today and Man U on Wednesday. Let's hope they get soundly beaten in both games to knock the stuffing out of them and pave the way for our next 3 points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that on the same number of games Gem, I suspect our present 31 is from a lower number of games given the postponements.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, we had played 22 games by now in the 19/20 season.

Bruno has surpassed any points total that Nuno had after 20 games in the Premier League and has fully justified the decision to replace Nuno.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bruno has done amazing and yeah for me has fully justified the time was right for a change. If he were backed properly i honestly think we could have broken the top six this term.

Just had a look at the rules and the names squad on the PL website, and yes there's a couple I guess that could be de-registered and loaned out. Burr and Shabani look obvious candidates, Buur doesn't appear to be classed as an HPG.

Thing I took from that was that a lot of Portuguese clubs must have played games at their training grounds during lockdown.

And that Chiquinho appears to be exactly the type of player we have been signing over the last 5 years, looks a bit lightweight at the moment but I guess he'll be given a few plates of grey pays and fagots with a side of orange chips to build him up a bit. Wonder what that means for Trincao, could be that there's an assumption that Barcelona will want him back to stay in May.

I think the signing of Chiquinho and the return of Neto puts into question whether we need to turn the loans of Trincao and Hwang into permanent signings. Although I don’t think Trincao is ready to play as regularly as he has been doing, I do think he would be a decent investment for the future. Not so convinced about Hwang but all being well we’ll have another few months to weigh him up

Everton have sacked Benitez. That always felt like a story that wouldn’t have a happy ending

I'd maybe reserve judgment on Trincao and Hwang until the end of the season, both have had their moments but I think Hwang has impacted games more. Of the two I'd be more inclined to sign him but Trincao is undoubtedly very talented and might be worth a gamble too as he could potentially develop in top player in time. Need to be a lot more consistent though and needs to apply his talent in better ways ie in the opposition box.

Theo Corbeanu left his loan at Sheffield Wed because they wouldnt agree to Wolves demand for him of guaranteed game time. So he’s now gone to MK Dons and scored a cracker for them yesterday

Chiquinho will evidently have his Wolves medical tomorrow

I think Chiquinho is just the club taking a punt on a player who is having a breakthrough year. I'd be surprised if we saw a lot of him this season unless someone leaves. I think its a signing with the next few years in mind.

£3m represents a low risk signing for a position where we seemed to have enough competition already

Seems that Gomes could fit in the squad. Just a matter of whether our owner would be upsetting his wife if we recall him from his loan now. Maybe we could loan them Dion Sanderson as his replacement
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, wifey will do as she's told the same as everyone else when Guo Guangchang speaks!

Is that what we used to say about Neto ?
and some others.

posted on 16/1/22

We used to say lots of things about lots of our players. Look who played for us yesterday;

Sa, a cheap replacement for Patricio
Kilman, will never get a run in the team
Coady, an average championship midfielder
Gomes, on holiday from the grasshoppers
Semedo, not up to the pace of the English game
Moutinho, too old farm him out
Dendoncker, Dave Edwards mark 2
Ait Nouri, defensive liability
Trincao, maybe in the future but not now
Jimenez, never be as good after that injury
Podence, mister inconsistency
And the subs
Fabio, waste of £35m
Traore, very fast what’s the stats
Cundle, who?

How did we get to 8th in the Prem with that shower!
