Don't see that side happening, but who knows.

I’m not saying that will be our team in 2 or 3 years time but in my mind we do have a team full of possibilities of players that could be first team players in the future. If half of them did progress to that level then it would have been a great investment and save the club tens of millions in transfer fees. And other players will emerge in the coming years. Gomes wouldn’t have been on my list 3 days ago

I hope you are right.

Gomes had a really good debut. Not sure why we wouldn’t persevere with him based on that. Him and Mosquera, and possibly Sanderson, could take away the need to buy another centre back

None of those players are likely to take us to the next level.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of them to say that they wouldn’t. A year ago we may have said the same about Kilman

Midfielder on loan. May be worth a try. Progressed through the ranks at Barca with a big reputation but it hasn’t worked out for him.

Meanwhile Barca being linked with Traore which seems to be the move he is holding out for. Some press reports saying Mendes has been engaged to make it happen for him. But it might not be until the summer when Dembole’s contract expires at Barca

I don't know much about him but he's meant to be very talented.... is he first team ready, that's the thing

We haven't, which is why I've said it is unlikely not impossible. I would happily be proven wrong, but the vast majority don't make it to the top level and I'd be pleasantly surprised if Gomes and Sanderson fully make the grade here.

Gomes has earned his place in the squad for the rest of the season, but it is likely he will end up on the bench or back at Grasshoppers once Saiss returns. Sanderson will probably be sent out on loan again at the end of the window.

Mosquera was the only one earmarked for first team football this season, so I'd suggest he is the most likely to have a long term future.

They are all still raw though and I would be disappointed if the club don't try to bring in a proven option in defence and midfield before the start of next season.

We are at Brentford on Saturday who are evidently in talks over a short term contract to bring in Christian Eriksen for the rest of the season

There was an article linking Adama to Barca and Riqui Puig to Getafe. I'm not sure if this rumour has stemmed from someone misreading that.

Looks like a player that would suit Wolves play very well.

Xavi rates the kid highly so doubt there'd be a permanent option

Luke Matheson, another one of our youngsters out on loan, switches from Hamilton to Scunthorpe for the rest of the season. Bought for about 1m back in 2020.

Seen a rumour that Saiss is about to sign a new contract, 3 years .

Found an interesting snippet regarding the registration of players over 21. Many on here seem to think that you can just unregister a player. Well, you can't.

If, at the end of January we submit our list of up to 25 players (no more than 17 overseas) eligible to play for the first team and it doesn't include the likes of Burr, Jordao and Shabini (all over 21 overseas players), then they are still registered with us BUT they are only eligible to play for the U23's.

I would imagine that they would prefer to go out on loan.

I'm not sure what point you think you've proven here.

Doesn't that say what we have already said? They dont have to be named in our list for the second half of the season.

posted on 17/1/22

was sunny deffo a cop and not a traffic warden?

so they can only play for the U23's, so basically they won't be in the prem squad (meaning potential spaces for new players)

posted on 17/1/22

My point was that you don't just unregister players, which some suggested.

no you don't unregister them, you just don't re-register them on the 1st Feb, they can play for the development squads and in the FA Cup

1. English Premier League

Players are considered as ‘homegrown (HG)’ if and only if they were registered with clubs affiliated with the English FA and/or Welsh FA at least 3 years before turning 21, continuous or not, regardless of their nationality or age.
Rules do not apply on all domestic cups.
