I think our first X1 is decent, but the quality after that is woeful. If we can somehow get out of the next 3 games with 4 points and levy actually backs the manager in January the season is still salvageable.

No way are we getting top 4

I'm not gonna bother, just think it's a really strange mindset given how good the results have been in the league. We're two points off arsenal with two games in hand. We've picked up the second most points per game since Conte came in. The teams we've beaten aren't amazing obviously but the same is the case with arsenal.

From an outsider…

I really don’t see what anyone sees in Winks. He’s terrible. So is Tanganga and Lo Celso.

Apart from Kane the only one who looks exciting and gets the opposition scared is Lucas Moura. In theory a Spurs team with Lucas and Traore running at sides will be quite effective and Kane will clean up. But that would be counter attacking football and I doubt you’ll control many big games until you sort the midfield out.

effective at running down cul-de-sacs and ruining attacks by making terrible decisions maybe

When results really matter then we know what happens. Still need to go away to Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Leicester etc.

Top 4 won't happen. I'd take a europa place ut much wouid have preferred a trophy.

Why are people surprised, ENIC are not going to change, they mug the fans off and they are also very clever the way they plant exciting rumours into the media every season, knowing full well they have no intention of actually following through with any of it. They know how to keep the fans turning up, as that is all they are bothered about. Unfortunately too many of our fans are naive enough to lap it up, and continue turning up, not me, I saw through ENIC long ago.

Obviously Villa have done their business in good time but we (Arsenal) are by all accounts active and haven't got anywhere.

Maybe there just won't be as much movement this January as both sets of fans had hoped for. Probably a lot of players looking at our clubs and thinking "IF you get Top 4 I'd fancy it, but I'm not going to gamble the next 3 years of my career on it".

We might both have to slog it out with what we have (along with United & West Ham too) until the summer.

There may be some chance of Levy/ENIC allowing something to happen in January. Rumor is Mourinho wants NDombele at Roma.
Well, Levy should sell him and let Conte use the money.

All of this made even more laughable when you consider old Joe has made another couple of billion on his investments in 2021.

Yeah but what about the Pandemic I hear you ask ?
Forget that. It is a fact in financial circles that all the known billionaires, Gates, Musk, Branson etc ALL made more fortunes during this period.

Lewis made his money in currency deals. Trust me, when the markets are volatile ( like in a pandemic ) currency traders definitely clean up.

And wouldn't it be nice if just for once, the media ( Sky, Beeb ) actually recognised the huge gulf in spending between Spurs and Chelsea, and report on the result of this semi in a manner that does not sound like they somehow expect Spurs to compete. And when they don't, lay criticism them.

Yup, Sky never mentioned Lloris, Dier, Romaro, Regulion were all missing from the defence, that's probably four of the best five players for starters. The best performing midfielder this season, Skipp and Son up front. Basically six players short of their strongest team. All they kept doing was bigging up how good billion pound spend, financially doped Chelsea were.

We could actually still have a good season. Top 4 and a good cup run in the FA Cup would constitute a good start for Conte. I don't know how dependent that is on bringing in some new faces though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh come on mate, start smelling the coffee. Top four will probably be well of the the radar with the fixtures Spurs have on the horizon, and Conte will field a weakened team against Brighton, and Spurs will get dumped out. Spurs have no chance of top four with the likes of Davies, Winks, Tanganga etc and Son missing for a month.

It's Sky's job to broadcast impartially, and not just big up the financially doped sides. They should have pointed out that Spurs were severely under strength, although some of that was self inflicted by the poor team selections of the manager.

Yep, well said. Is the same with City. Sky absolutely love them, but do not have the required brain cells to realise that they ( and Chelsea ) are not just killing football, but have already done it. I guess they are happy to see these two clubs pick up every domestic trophy going, year after year, after year.

posted on 13/1/22

Problem is the vast majority of football can't see football is being killed, because despite what Sky pretend the majority of fans support teams that would have no chance of winning anything with or without the the mega rich clubs. So for them nothing has changed. They won't see it till it's far to late.

This is fantastic. First part of your post is slating your owner for not putting his money where his mouth is, next part you're making excuses for him not doing it and slating an owner who is.

No other sport would you find supporters who get a thrill out of saving their tight owners money. No wonder him and Levy keep getting away with what they're doing with fans like you vindicating them.

The only thing that's changed is the status quo are being challenged and they don't like it.

No one moaned when it was Milan being finacially doped, Spurs and other 'big club' fans don't moan about the artificial TV money that has basically closed off the top flight to all bar about 25-30 teams for the rest of all our lifetime.

I wonder why!
