Quality player but we have Gomez, VVD, Matip and Konate. We're set.

Rudiger just wants his jerry maguire moment... thats all. he couldn't give a flying f where he plays next season

I'm sure a couple league medals in his pocket at real or PSG or where ever would suit him given he won the CL and europa and fa cup at chelsea

Unless he's solely after a payday (which there's nothing wrong with at his age), I'd be very wary of leaving if I was him. I can't shake this feeling he'll turn out to be a massive flop for the buyer if he goes. Although I think he's a better all-round defender, he's kinda similar to Maguire in that he looks like more of a leader than he actually is.

At the moment he's one of the lads in a very stable, well coached defence - perfect role for him. Put him in the big boy role, with big boy money & the expectations that come from that & I can see him struggling.

Not sure he would be the top dog at RM would he? Think most people would still see Alaba as the leader of the RM defence.

Tbh, he's won the CL & FA Cup with Chelsea; the chance of playing his early 30's in Madrid for Real
on an enormous contract - not many would turn that down.

I must admit, that I'm pretty sure he will go to RM, and who could blame him for what (supposedly) he is being offered.
I do wonder though, if he has had a chat with Hazard at all, surely that would help him with his final decision !

He's turned into a top defender over the last 18 months although he definitely looks better in a 3 where he has that license to move forward with the ball.

he was always top quality. it was just the idiot lampard that put him back. How lampard dropped him i do not know. but it cost him his job.

He wasn't always top quality. He had far more positional mistakes in his when playing in a CB pairing.

Still much better than the players picked ahead of him while lampard put him out in the cold.

IMO that was one reason why lampard deserved to lose that job.

tuchel didn't need any new players to implement a total reversal of fortunes there. less than 6 weeks too. when you've quality like azpi and rudiger to set the team up with then you can get the results.

Best for player & club if he re-signs. Much as he might or might not suffer without us (just my gut feeling), we'll create an unnecessary hassle trying to replace him. The Chalobah revelation won't happen every time

I can see both sides pov. The club don't want to give a player who's (a) not always been reliable, and (b) has an injury past which suggests he might break down at any time, massive money - I get that. Also Rudiger wanting money which reflects his recent performances/more in line with his importance to the current setup - also get that.

I still have concerns over AC's physical condition, same as RLC,they are both big guys, but seem to be fragile and injury prone.
