After Brexit

Brexit, IMO, was a terrible thing to happen to the UK. The one benefit I suppose is that it'll actually bring down the UK in the upcoming years as we firstly see Scotland going it alone.

I have to say though Brexit is a shame. A decade ago I was very much a fan of the 'union' and the 2012 Olympics made it feel we were heading for great times. Unfortunately it hasn't turned out that way. It's why I think we'd be better served going our separate ways but still retain a very close friendship.

It's not remotely settled, the process will be going on for several more years if not decades

The Australia deal is hilarious. We benefit more than the Uk and it basically sticks two fingers up at UK farmers.

Eventually we'll come full circle and the EU will join the UK.

Will never cease to amaze me how citizens of a country could have freedom to live and work in 27 other country's only to decide they don't fancy it.

As someone who has lawful residence in 4 countries I still despise fact Europe is no longer open to me

52, good post, but weren't all those things you listed available as a member of the EU? And rejected?

From what I've read this seems to unfortunately be the case.

Yes, but I think they were rejected for a different reason. But we are where we are. So we need a way forward

OP writes like Brexit has just happened! Many of these things are already down the road e.g. we’ve signed trade deals with about 70 countries. That said they are small beer versus eu.

Pros and cons and reality masked by covid but U.K. has fckd it by assuming the eu wouldn’t be vindictive. Did I say fck the French? Maybe not - fck the French.

I get brexit. We never ever got the benefit that the geographically, culturally and mentally closer bloc did. Fck the French. Charged the standard rate but didn’t receive the standard benefits and still the French cvnts would act like they were something. Gerry sees right through the French cvnts, fck them.

U.K. is adrift. US don’t want to know much either - they have their own sh.t show.

Surprised England hasn’t pushed for independence? Of course the establishment won’t let it happen cos vanity defence, ambassadorial and other projects would instantly become 15% dearer. And whilst the French will never get their shoulder shrugging sh.t together the Welsh, Irish and Scot’s might and that would tip them.

indeed it is best forecasts are like 0.08% rise of GDP while selling out our food standards and kicking the farmers in the teeth.

52, you missed out healthcare.

Which are the UK's plans to make up for the shortage of health staff caused by Brexit?

70 countries? once you drop down beyond the top 20 list in GDP the value of these deal will be virtually zero.

all the best deals they have signed are effectively rollover deals from what we had within the EU except slightly worse.

Look how it's booted the steel industry square in the baws when the US and EU agreed to drop Tariffs on steel.

the only way to make possibly make it work would have to have very close alignment with the EU and slowly move certain targetted industries away from EU regulation and even doing that would have been required various trade and customs barriers.

this is the one of if not the most ludicrous political projects in the history of the country brought to you by some of the most ludicrous politicians in the history of the country.

there's a video or pictures of Gove and Johnson moments after the result and they weren't celebrating or punching the air, they look like they had just sh@t themselves.

Just remember that every year now, things get exponentially more ridiculous. In 5 years we will look back and think "remember when we thought Brexit was mental?", whilst Prime Minister Prince Andrew addresses the "free belllend" party conference. Are belllends are rights. It goes where it wants, it goes where it waaants, are belllend, it goes where it wants.

Sorry to lower the tone with realism.

The India/British post Brexit trade deal that is currently been negotiated is reported to be worth billions for both countries.

However a downside of it as far as the many, racist Brexiteers will be concerned about is the fact that India insists that any deal will involve the UK relaxing our immigration rules and opening up our borders for unlimited passage for any Indian students and professionals to live and work in the UK as they please. The UK Gvt are so keen to seal this deal that they dont see this as a problem to sell to Brexit voters in the UK.

This will go against the grain of the main point of Brexit for many which was to secure our UK borders further from over immigration, especially from non EU brown people.

You really couldnt make this up.
