Defo a good manager over the career he's had

Won a dozen trophies as well.
I believe he has more trophies than Klopp

Benitez is a good tactician (or perhaps was).

Don't think he's someone you'd want at your club long term though.

It’ll be interesting to see where he goes next and how he does, especially of there’s talk of him being “past it” or whatever.

He did a good job with Newcastle and that was only a few years ago so he still has the ability to be a PL manager.

Everton does seem to be a bit of graveyard for coaches though, nobody who goes there can get a tune out of them and nobody is deemed “good enough” by the fans.

I heard earlier that Moshiri has spent £500 million on 43 players since 2016, you look around the squad and have to ask “where has it been spent?”

Ancelotti's success at Real post looking finished at Everton may buy Rafa the benefit of the doubt and give him one last shot at a biggish job.

Won 2keague titles at Valencia aswell. Was a top manager in his time.

Problems at Everton are deep rooted.

He did a decent job. Bruce replicated his results for the next 2 seasons though.

Benitez took over a squad doomed for relegation and turned them into a solid mid table side oh minimum net spend.

Bruce took over said solid mid table side, spent 140m on the likes of ASM and Wilson and left them doomed for the drop. Not to mention he played an outstanding B2B player as a poacher.

The fact their "records are similar" is a massive black mark against Bruce, with those resources he should have took them to the next level.

I have no idea how Newcastle survived in Bruce's first season. They were absolutely horrendous

Because our genius of an ex manager gifted them three points which led to a few weeks of serious momentum.

Exactly.

People (Bruce’s media mates) often point out the results are very similar but Rafa was adored and Bruce was hated.

Bruce’s results should have been better as they were an established PL side who had a lot of money spent on it, not one who had just came up from the Championship.

The comparisons are quite funny. Benitez is a poor manager but poch, who’s won less is the one we clamor for

I’m not for a second comparing them, I just find the lens people view things funny at times

I always believe at the right club most managers would do well, and Moyes at WH and Klopp at Pool are very good examples. Rafa and Mourinho are great managers, but need to find the right clubs. Rafa did well at Chelsea despite the adverse and openly hostile atmosphere, but I'm not surprised the wheels have come off for him at Everton, it was never going to work.

He was a very good manager, even if his football was rarely easy on the eye. He hasn't moved with the times though and has been left behind now. He's always come across as stubborn in terms of his personality, so I doubt he possesses the adaptability to turn things around at this stage. His best days are long behind him.

His 08/09 Liverpool side were excellent to watch at times all be it clueless against parked buses which ultimately cost them the league.

Rafa was on a hiding to nothing at Everton. They are quite crap to be honest.

I said rarely, not never. His teams have been gritty, determined and compact more often than open and exciting during his career. They were good to watch in the last few months of 08-09 but even in the earlier stages of that season this wasn't the case.

Evertons squad is horrendous.

Rafa lost DCL, Richarlison, Mina and many others to lomg injurys. I think he has spent 2 million

Everton fans are the most deluded around

2 or 3 seasons in a row Rafas Liverpool were the highest scoring team in Europe.

I hope Wazza doesn’t go back there. It isn’t the time yet for him to manage in the Prem.

He is better off with Derby even if it is an utter $hitshow there.

They were only top scorers in the Premier League one season under him and were only in the top 3 scorers on one further occasion. If you enjoyed watching his teams play, fair enough. Many didn't and that's why he's got the reputation of being a safety first pragmatist.

Wazza is interesting. He’s cones across as a complete idiot. But he’s clearly done a great job at derby, or has been lucky? The former I would think, and whilst I wouldn’t blame him on going to everton, I think you are tight. It’s too early.

That said I honestly can’t imagine that eejit managing anyone
