I couldn't figure what took them so long. The guy's an absolute Waaanker to think he can just waltz in flouting their entry requirements and start playing. Takes some hutzpah!

His camp seems a bit fruitcakey. His dad comparing him to christ and his brother saying he is fighting for liberty. Liberty to ignore the rules of of a competition you voluntarily entered?

Do we think that all PL players should be double vaxxed in order to play? There is a good percentage that are not. Are we therefore being rather hypocritical? Should they not be called out?

Are there any top footballers who are so vocal about it?

As far as I know they're at least fairly tactful about things.

On Australia in particular, until recently at least hit's andled the pandemic very well, despite what most people probably think life has been very much business as usual for the majority of people here in Oz. Victoria and Melbourne in particular not so much but they did at least limit deaths well and only relaxed measures when everyone above 16 had been offered and had the time to receive 2 doses of the vaccine

Not perfect by any means but in terms of pandemic response they'd be way above most nations.

Was the Djokovic saga handled well, definitely not obviously.

I suspect there were warring factions at play in this saga. The Tennis authorities were probably motivated by the money Djerkovic would bring in. But the entry authorities were more concerned with keeping the entry rules without exception, and the political backlash that was certain to follow if they did not.

Of course, the relevance of this saga to us here in Europe is what happens when European countries finally wake up and start being has hard nosed about entry requirements as the Aussies have been?
Just a little more Omicron perhaps?
Or reaction to Boris's next joke?

For me it's a massive failing by the whole system though. Why allow the Victorian state or Tennis Australia to make the decision in the first place when ultimately it's not a State or Tennis issue.

It could be one but only for players who are already in Australia and only regarding whether they can enter the tournament if you know what I mean.

Like I said, the right decision was made but the handling of the whole saga was utterly shambolic.

As much as I dislike Djokovic's views and think it's a valid argument to say he's a danger to public discord he now faces not only missing this tournament (which is during exceptional times) but also a future ban on entry when hopefully times will have changed in regard to the pandemic. (I stress hopefully, rather than an expectation)

He lied on his visa application form, he caught Covid and didn’t isolate of course he should have been kicked out, plus his wife is a full on anti vaxx loon and both his parents are deluded f*cking crackpots.

We’ve been pandering to the anti vaxx loons for far too long, including here in the UK.

Totally agree. From start of next season those professional players should have their registration rescinded until vaccinated

The Aussies were 100% right to throw him out.
If any of the England cricket team that got thrashef in the Ashes turned up unvaccinated then they would have also been denied entry. On the other hand why say there are some exceptions when there really are none. Anti vax protestors can turn up anywhere anyway

So let me get this straight…a court granted him a visa to stay in the country, but it was overruled by someone else (whoever that is) and he was booted - AND given a three year ban?

Does Australia have a totalitarian government now?

Sure, Oz can do whatever they want. It’s their country. But it begs the question how they treat their own citizens who don’t want to be vaccinated…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can confirm you have not yet gotten things straight. Please put some effort in and read up on it

I’m vaccinated but do believe it’s up to the individual persons to choose if they want it or not.

However if you are a guest in a country you should respect there rules and if they say no vaccinated are welcome then you stay home.
