I don't even mind baby steps where we aren't competing for the title etc next season

It would take a miracle.

You need a Klopp. Someone to come in and turn the whole ship around and rebuild it in his image.

The trouble with that is, there's no other Klopp type out there atm and you're in far worse shape than Liverpool were when he took over.

I think that Potter is the closest you are going to get from PL managers, in that he will want to oversee everything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Judging by what we are seeing currently and the press reports etc (I know it's the press) Potter wouldn't stand a chance. I even think ETH wouldn't stand a chance simply due to the players we have.

Whilst I agree with most of the criticism aimed at Conte he was the type of cn ut we needed. Before a ETH type took over

I remember finishing any lower than first back in SAF days was depressing. These days, finishing 4th for us is like a trophy. Losing a game used to ruin a weekend, now I'm over it as soon as the final whistle blows.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So basically the top reds have finally ground you down.

I sort off hope i get there soon (probably be there already if Ronnie's return with his high standards didn't bring some hope) as being one of the few with standards gets you things ranging from your fandom questioned to xenophobic abuse (based on someone guessing my nationality) and death threats.

Wrongly guessing (Indian) aswell i may add.

I think we should just enjoy being United fans no matter what competitions we play in.

If you don't make top 4 then you should sack the fans.

I dunno, the older I've got, the less crap I've given. We're $hit and have been for 8 years, you get used to it, there's not really much we as fans can do about it. Even the state of the stadium reflects the club, falling apart and failing to modernise.

Club could take a few pages out of City's book on how to run a modern football club...with money.

As a football fan, i don't understand this mentality, I would like to see my team play as much as I can, being in Europe means more times to watch my team.

From my perspective, and I don't expect everyone to agree, I understand your point and generally agree.

However my point was that I would happily see less now if it gave us the time to develop and be at the top end of all competitions. Missing out on Europa for a year to see us making headway in the Prem, CL, other cup comps would be well worth it imo

Fair enough, I'm just saying from the experience of this season, it's boring watching your team once a week. Also, I personally think the more you play and win, whatever comp it is, can only be a good thing for your team in making progress.

Once again can't disagree generally. I just think a new manager, new players (especially if from abroad), a potential new system and such needs more time on the training ground. Also it may sound touchy feely but a new player to a new country and a new league will need time to bed in to the local culture, lifestyle, settle in in new surroundings, house etc.

Just a few months of "respite" could potentially lead to better things in the future.

I did a breakdown of Rqlfs tenure with us since taking over and with rest days and game days etc it worked out at about 6 days work with the players on the training ground. Although it was weeks and .onths in terms of actual start day.

I for one am not quite at the point of criticising Ralf because I don't see 6 days as sufficient time to see the massive changes people expected. If anything I can see why we look worse at times.

Like I said just my opinion and thoughts don't expect fill to agree with me. Just makes sense to me

Top 4 isn't the most important thing in the world for us right now. I'd rather get the big decisions right and miss out than sneak in and continue to paper over the cracks.

We aren't winning the CL next season anyway so if we miss out who cares.

Think we need as many games as possible with a new manager and players coming in. The more games they play, the more opportunities to gel.

Definitely some truth to this. The Europa League will be taken seriously I'm positive if we're in it.

If we qualify for the conference league however I'm be fairly certain we won't be risking too many first teamers.

Why wouldn't any team want to play in Europe. It can only be a positive. Especially for United when you can use your squad for most of it.

I think they need fewer games and more training sessions, especially with the world cup disrupting things.

We need to trim down the squad, and not playing in Europe would make that more likely.

I’d rather be in the Europa than not, all things considered. You can still get some decent match-ups and it’s a trophy we should always feel we’ve got a chance of winning. Plus it’s another route to the CL.

As for ‘if we don’t make top four’… I don’t think there’s any ‘if’ about it.

As a club we really should be able to compete on more than one front.

Plus, I look forward to every game, and the more games there are, the more competitions we're in, the more there is to look forward to (despite any dejection I may feel when the match actually starts lol, but hopefully that'll change).
