A good game ruined

we really need a stop watch introduced. When utd came to chelsea this year and ddg was holding onto it a minute every goal kick it was ridiculous

Or refs could start booking players like the rules say they should.

I have no idea how Trippier wasn't booked for his foul early in the game too.

Simple solution.

Take it out the refs hands and have some one actually just to watch the clock, stop it for the ball out of play and start it when it’s back in.

Bit like rugby.

To be honest Newcastle had a nailed on penalty denied so you have no grounds for complaint.

Referee has to stop play for head injuries and check how all injured players are. He can’t question their integrity in the same way players can’t question his. I’m sure referees are as frustrated as many when players feign injuries but there is little they can do. It’s down the the clubs and managers to sort their players out but this sort of gamesmanship is taught. Just look at the Newcastle bench attempting to stop the game throwing a second ball on the pitch also. Thats where the main fault lies.

Not sure it was nailed on. If it was why didn’t VAR give it? From where I sat it looked like the guy just fell over.

Watch the replays mate.

Anyone who thinks that isn't a penalty is blind or corrupt.

I don't give a toss about Newcastle, in fact I hope they get relegated before their financial doping kicks in.

But that was a penalty.

Nailed on.

wud an extra 30-45 mins too a game

cud do it if halves were of 30 mins each insteada 45

It was said last year that the ball is only in play for average of 50-60 mins per game. I think referees need to wise up a bit and start showing more yellows for persistent time wasting such as at goalkicks and throw ins. Problem is, refs don't start to book players for it until the last 20 mins of the game and that's the problem, players get away with an hour of it before getting a booking.

newcastle were time wasting from about 30 secs in when they had a goal kick and took nearly a minute. played 2 mins and 1 off them was their keeper faffing about. nearly sure i mentioned time wasting by them within first 20 mins or so on matchday thread and even said god forbid they scored as would get worse and it did

Obviously not nailed on or it would have been given.

Anyway even if it was it’s about time we had a decision go our way. They say they even out so we must be due a bucket load before the season ends.

Klaesson got booked on Monday because he couldn't find the ball, not sure if that was genuine or not as they didn't show him looking. A yellow in the U23's is pretty meaningless but it appears they enforce the rules properly at that level but not at first team level.

Worst time wasting all season and there have been some bad ones. 5 minutes added time was a disgrace.

I disagree with time wasting completely but can understand why teams do it late on when they have a lead. But to do it from 1 minute into the first half at 0-0 is pathetic.

It’s not time wasting from the first minute. It’s part of a plan to cope with leeds. You hear players (Rice last week) saying leeds hardest team in league to play physically so what better way of coping is there to create a number of game breaks to catch ones breath. Wolves were just as bad as Newcastle .
As soon as the goal goes in the breaks double in number.
There is no way Newcastle would have been coming to an injury hit lower half side hoping for a point in their predicament. They needed 3 points

All teams time waste - complaining about it when other teams do it is nothing but sour grapes. End of.

That Newcastle penalty was never a pen. Just because he clips his lower leg doesn't mean a 90kg man has to throw himself over in a heap.

The Liverpool penalty was a terrible decision. Refs in this country are a joke.

If ASM hadn't done a triple Salko, the Toon would have got the penalty. Serves him right.
However, how the ref missed the challenge on Dan James in the box in the first half, which practically sent him into row 26, is beyond me.

Watched it a few times. On first view it looks a penalty but when slowed down from a closer view it looks like he barely touched him and in fact pulls his foot away along the ground.

Correct decision I think - unlike the Liverpool one which was clearly wrong.
