a very well argued op, difficult to agree with the facts.

some facts slightly overlooked:

all-time premier league table (points) - liverpool 4th
all-time premier league table (goals) - liverpool 3rd
all-time premier league table (penalties) - liverpool top, and quite comfortably too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
difficult to agree with the facts.

argue ffs

It was never a penalty for sure. Wasn’t a dive either to be fair.
--------------------

I don't know how anyone can say it wasn't a dive. He purposefully changed direction and ran into the keeper and threw himself to the ground. Of course it was a dive.

Peter Walton also said it was a pen

I have just watched the penalty decision now on the BBC. What a joke. I didn't have the sound on, so not sure if it was given for the attempted tackle where they was a slight brush, or Jota throwing himself into the keeper. Either way, it wasn't a penalty and I'd actually have cautioned Jota for trying to con the referee. Farcical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A strange analysis of the penalty.

Jota ran into the area, attempted to dink the keeper, got his shot wrong his body moved right as his right foot came down, naturally. He then adjusted his body to go left towards the ball and at the same time the keeper fouled him. It was an obvious foul. The only question was whether he was getting to the ball if the keeper didn't foul him. It's impossible to tell in my opinion which means the original decision should stand as there is no clear and obvious error.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah, Jota was looking for the penalty. He was going to go down when Ward came across - you can actually see him start to drag his right foot, then he realises that there wasn't any/enough contact to go down. He then decides that he will instead try to get a penalty off the keeper and step towards him, which is why he fluffs the chip. No penalty for me.

When they said var was reviewing it I assumed it was for possible red card for simulation

Fair play to Jota. I don't think that I have ever seen someone flow from one piece of simulation to another in such a short space of time.

It was never a penalty!

As for Utds goal, Cavani was onside, his finger may of been off, you can’t score with your hand unless you’re called Maradona or Thierry Henry!

That's the first article I've seen from rival fans talking about Liverpool having bad ref or VAR decision going. But I've seen many on City and United on the same subject. That means the title is totally wrong. I've seen far worst. Pogba getting a penalty for tripping his own leg or Fernandes stamping on Villa player and both getting penalties.

Fair play to Carragher when he dismissed the penalty claim straight away. How VAR couldn't see it after numerous views is mind boggling

It’s worrying that a PL ref can be conned so easily. We need stronger refs.

‘Chuck Norris once had to decide whether to give Liverpool a soft penalty, he waved play on’

One of the least believable Chuck Norris quotes

You know what I mean. I meant both Pogba and Fernandes getting penalties from two different incidents and different games. Was just lazy to put long sentence
