Deja Vu...

Last minute Levy always leaves it until the final days of the window because he wants a bargain and knows that clubs are more likely to accept a reduced fee with the clock ticking down.

Good for business but not good for building a competitive squad in a timely fashion and to allow plenty of time for player integration etc.

ENIC are holding Tottenham Hotspur Football Club back, but I doubt they even care about that, the balance sheet will always remain king with those parasites.

It's always frustrating and I'm not defending them (at all) but who exactly could realistically come in right now and fundamentally change our squad? January signings have always been either a) overpriced or b) available for a reason.

Totally agree. There's definitely a tendency among some fans to go crazy every time we don't sign every hyped player we're linked to. For me, the difference this time, is we have a genuinely world class manager publicly saying what we all know - that we need better players and to shift some deadwood.

It's like when Harry just needed a couple to get us across the line or when Poch wanted to do a rebuild. Levy can't get it right when he decides to back a manager or not, and to put those big bids in. You'd hope Paratici could at least line up the players, but if the guy signing off on the deals consistently makes bad decisions nothing will change, really

they are just business men. spurs is diversification in their mainly property portfolio. Lewis could write us a 200m cheque today if he wanted and not even notice.

Agree, as much as I'd love a world class talent to come in, the reality is that a good window would probably be upgrading the bench with players Conte wants and getting rid of deadwood. Conte SURELY know what's realistic this window

a good window would actually be shifting out the deadwood in January leaving us less to do in the summer. do as well as we can until then and in summer its all about recruitment without having to fack around waiting for players to leave to free up wages.

Definitely true, I don't think they see it as holding Spurs back though - Levy has said in the past that it's HIS JOB to make sure THFC stays financially healthy so by his own standards he's done a great job. Nothing is going to change at Spurs for the foreseeable future unless we're bought out by a moneybags, I used to be ok with that but without the on field success they look like mugs.

Apparently there is a disagreement between clubs of 4m for Diaz.

Where have we heard this before!

Not paying an extra few million for someone who is supposed to be a hot prospect and has top clubs after him is ridiculous.

I suppose it's not far off this month's wages for the players we want to get rid of but can't.

People are confusing our ability to spend money and hw we spend money.

The same people asking "did we do any due diligence" on the likes of GLC/NDombele who cost the club +£100m are the same ones asking why we aint getting deals in now and why those deals were not done on the 1st January.

If we spent £100m on 2 or 3 players now and had NDomble Dele and GLC all sat there doing nothing for the rest of the season....what chance do we have of shifting them in the future, even for small sums given their wages? and meanwhile we waste £+1.5m a month on their wages. We then go into the summer needing more buys to improve further and still have these expensive lumps stealing a living, so our ability to deal then is also compromised.

If people want us to buy the best we can possibly afford, players that will make a difference it has to stack up, we cannot carry the huge wages of deadwood because we want to pay those wages to someone else.

I think we might get 1 deal done this window, and more if we get some of those earners out on loan (or sold) proving they have quality and value.

Well, I`m not asking ENIC to spend more money, because they are not willing to and it won`t ever happen, I am asking them to fack off out of Spurs and let somebody else take over who will.

The clubs that win the trophies in this country have no problem spending money to get where they want to go, they do not have the same level of problems we seem to always have when they are signing new players, they get their deals quickly and cleanly, hell even Leicester, WHU and Villa are more clinical than Spurs in the transfer market.

But this is what happens when you have good owners with a vision for their football team, they get things done. Spurs have owners who want to do everything as cheap as possible, and its shows, the whole thing is a shambles.

TOTTENHAM’S swoop for Porto ace Luis Diaz is stuck in limbo due to a furious agents’ storm.

The clubs have agreed the transfer of the Colombian winger for £40million plus £8m in add-ons.

But the star’s two representatives — who are based in Europe and South America — are refusing to sign off the deal because of the way super-agent Jorge Mendes has become embroiled in the move.

Diaz’s advisors are adamant the deal will not be completed if Mendes plays any part in their player’s affairs.

Without their approval, the switch cannot be completed.

Tottenham are desperate to make Diaz, 25, their first signing of the transfer window
