Conservative party is, if I'm not mistaken, the most successful party in Western politics. Can't remember where I read that but they know how to win an election. They've only lost 3 in 45 years or something ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Man United are the most successful team in the Premier League. Put an idiot in charge and things change quite quickly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tories will get rid if there's any hint of them losing the election, that's why May went.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Damage will have been done by that point. Cost of living crisis, scandals, Brexit implications etc will have already done the damage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cost of living is also global, with Germany and America suffering inflation and rising costs too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The last recession was global. It still landed at Labour's door.

Just don’t see another party in government any time in the near future is all.

They are truly awful.

It's what we do these days.

Trump is to blame for Biden's woes on inflation, economy, border crisis, Kabul, COVID, crime etc.

Never Tories, Boris or Biden😱

Thatcher blamed labour for seventies basket case Britain, then labour blame Maggie ever since.

The SDP looked ok, leaning left on economics and right on social issues?

Tiny though.

Right or wrong, I would give Starmer a go after so much Tory rule...nae offence pal.

If you'd asked me that pre partygate I'd agree. Now I'm not so sure.

I suspect the matter will overshadow the political discourse for the foreseeable. With Johnson's detractors (both inside and outside of the party) exploiting it.

It's akin to a serial adulterer promising their partner they can change. And afforded chance after chance to do so, whilst they continue their adulterous ways.

With the cost of living crisis (as well as new additional economic barriers caused by Brexit, inflation, energy prices etc) only going to get worse, not beyond the realms of possibilities the electorate might chose an alternative option.

It’s always in the realms of possibility but I highly doubt it

Put it this way, if the public vote these charlatans in again then they fully deserve the government we currently have and the way our democracy and parliamentary processes are undermined on a daily basis.

could be better for Labour and the SNP to keep him in there though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Longer he's there, longer he damages the Conservative Party. Goes from being a problem with him to a problem with them all. He's their biggest liability now.

Thing is, what would Starmer Labour do to alleviate the above?

Much of that is global....see Germany and America.

Add in the changes to laws on protests so they can arrest demonstrators they see as annoying, requiring ID to vote, boundary changes so they win more seats, ensuring control of the state broadcaster and its regulator, Illegal proroguing of parliament etc.

There is more to democracy than just a vote using an outdated system. This current lot undermine it repeatedly as well all of the wrongdoing, corruption, falsehoods and criminality.

Vote them in again and we deserve everything we get.

He got in largely on a single ticket 'Get Brexit Done' slogan although Corbyn's financial plan probably helped.

Brexit became an issue due to the unpreparedness of government and the years spent arguing the to55 and not accepting the will of the people. Frankly the whole lot of them are culpable.

Exactly, misinforming/duping the public.

FWIW some of Corbyn's economic plans had merit.

Saw a piece the other day were Labour's 'socialist' policies (above) were presented to traditional Conservative voters. Who were largely supportive of them. Until at the end of the piece, they were informed the policies were actually ones promoted and presented by Corbyn - they were horrified.

Voters did not trust Corbyn, on economics, higher taxes, Brexit, security etc....promising money for broadband and Waspy women, not prods, without costing billions required, so spooked voters.

Economically, I am neither socialist nor capitalist and would use best of both, but voters just did not trust jezza, Abbott, McDonnell, momentum etc.

I always get the feeling with the way you go on about Corbyn that there’s something other than his politics that bothers you.

He’s been put the scene for years, yet you mention him constantly.
