Doesn't bode well for Liverpool when Spurs have to sell Kane.

OP, why are you so obsessed with Spurs? Are you morphing into Maff II.

Once Liverpool have to sell Salah, it won`t bode well for them. They are pretty well a one man team.

Always knew Darth Levy was a genius.

I've never read such rot.

Theres no way levy was sniffing round a club that could afford to hold the line on a high fee.

Once porto were out of the CL into europa they had to balance books. end of.

whatever fee levy agreed is whatever... if LFC chose to match that then tough.

the reality is spurs tried to move in and exploit Porto's weakness in the January timeframe.
we have said hang on a minute we want this guy but in the summer and then had to go match the bid in january.

If levy's knickers are in a twist over a competitive situation more fool him LOL but I quite fancy this is a complete rubbish story on the athletic.

And United.

I read that the deal was done with club and player and Spurs, only for Porto to instruct Mendes to get it over the line.....the player's Colombian agent refused to deal with Mendes and what was a previously secret deal came into the open allowing LFC to pounce.

Very tough luck on Spurs but a good example of some of the better negotiating by Spurs that goes on behind the scenes. We cannot afford to get into a bidding war or a ccock measuring competition with bigger clubs so it has to be done quietly.

Good opportunism by LFC who got a bit lucky really, both in terms of getting the opportunity and riding on the lower price agreed by THFC.

Levy has shafted many people in transfers and been involved in transfer business for many years.
I find it hard to believe that he would really be upset about it. Its not like he is new to the game.If he is he needs to grow up amd leave the transfer dealings to Patsy who was employed for this purpose.

very rarely do we go into a bidding war with another club but because the figure Levy negotiated was too good to turn down for us. We walked away from Werner (thankfully) when Chelsea stepped in.

Thought I heard the player only wanted to come to Liverpool 👍

The interesting thing for me is that LFC baulked at the 80m Euro price tag in 2021. About £65m. The sort of money City spent on Mahrez a few yeas back, Chelsea spent on Havertz and United on Sancho.

Seems like LFC still not at that financial level of these 3 clubs, and having to be very selective and careful on spending.

You're absolutely right. United are by far the richest non toy club out there, we can't compete with Chelsea, City or them.

OP, doesn't say much about the negotiation skills shown by the Liverpool officials.

They are gullible AF by the sound of them

Whereas Spurs knocked down the price in fell swoop.

The deal only turned to Liverpool because of another agent interfering, and nothing else.

The player was off to Spurs, when his own agent pulled the deal because the other agent, who I am sure know who it is, asked for a cut.

Nothing to do with Liverpool, and tbh, the whole shambles made Liverpool look a bunch of amateurs.

The media just along with Liverpool's spin on this. But the truth is there if you want to read through the Portuguese papers.

Right, right

Diaz was off to Spurs, and only reason it didn't happen because some other agent wanted a cut so Diaz agent pulled the plug on the Spurs deal.

Hey, narratives, living in a bubble you know

Totally agree with morespurs. Liverpool were underhand in their approach for Diaz, that's why Levy is gonna submit a complaint about it.
