Well, we could e.g. wear masks indoors when infection rates are high and self-isolate when we are infected. Both of these things are ball-aches for me but nowhere near the consequences for vulnerable people if we decide we can't be bothered.

Just imagine it was your mother or your child who's one of the ones who really can't afford to get Covid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't even consider wearing a mask to be that much of a ballache tbh. It was a bit uncomfortable at first a couple of years ago but it quickly became second nature and not even an inconvenience tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wear glasses these days so I hate the mask. But I've never questioned the rationale for wearing it.

On the terrorism comparison, I just saw this tweet:

'21 years ago, one guy, in England, put explosives in his shoes and tried to light them with a match. No one was harmed. For two decades, every single flight in America required you to take your shoes off. No one rioted. 960K people have died from COVID-19 in 2 years. Wear a mask.'

It is pretty strange, isn't it, that we accept pretty invasive checks, rules and curbs on our civil liberties in relation to terrorism but in relation to a disease that wipes us out in numbers Osama couldn't have dreamed of masks and social distancing are hugely controversial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think part of it is that you have studies saying certain masks don't prevent the spread of Covid. However this is an all or nothing thing. A single ply mask may not prevent every Covid cell from penetrating the mask but unless they're forming an orderly queue, it will prevent some of them from doing so. Misinformation and the 100% efficacy holy grail is a big problem and has been throughout the pandemic.

Bad timing...I've just done 10 days...luckily the weather has been shat and the golf club shut for tree damage
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How were you feeling? Anybody I know who's had it has felt rough for a few days but have continued to test positive for a while after the symptoms have abated
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok really...slight cold sort of thing...had it two years ago at the outset...slight cough...not much more...

Good stuff. Most people I know have only had mild doses. I'm a smoker so may suffer a bit more if and when I do get it. But that's my own doing

That's really not a helpful comparison though, is it? Taking off your shoes for a minute when you already have to do a bunch of stuff for airport security is not the same as something that affects you every time you leave the house.

People protested en masse about austerity measures but voted en masse for Brexit and the Tories. People are dumb.

Never had a problem with wearing masks. In the summer when it’s too hot it can be annoying but apart from that no problem. Annoying if you wear glasses though.

posted on 20/2/22

Reducing the Covid measures debate to just wearing masks is silly, too. Have we gone back to 2020?

The 95 year old Queen has got Covid and has nothing more than flu like symptoms ffs.

Restrictions were only ever about health service capacity. Bar an unprecedented nast variant the vaccine is actually turning this into "just the flu".

Nah don’t think you will. I smoke a lot of weed and when I’m not smoking weed, I’m puffing on a vape, but even when I had covid I was able to hold js down easily.

Absolutely. That kind of backs up what I was saying about the 100% efficacy holy grail. There is no one perfect measure for stopping the spread but taking several measures can have a great cumulative effect.

I had it quite rough and have only now tested negative after 11 days. Pretty much laid up in bed for around 9 days and felt utter garbage. Aches all over, utter exhaustion, sore throat, shortness of breath.

Even phoned 111 at one point who advised me to go to hospital as a precaution. Only problem is I didn’t have anyone they could take me (didn’t want to risk giving it to my mum) so I roughed it out and finally began to feel better around Friday time. Still get tired though

👍 That's what I want to hear. Tbf I haven't had so much as a cough in years so my lungs aren't absolutely rotted thankfully

Not everybody is as healthy as the queen. Also for all we know, her symptoms could be downplayed like BoJo’s were before he ended up in ICU…

I was a smoker aswell although was trying to give up before I caught Covid. Was on the patches. I’ve now not smoked anything for 9 days now. Being laid up got me used to not smoking so I suppose that was a bonus!

I mean in the sense that just because something isn’t perfect you get some people saying it’s useless so why do it Etc

Glad you're doing better now. I think Delta is still circulating. You may have been one of the unlucky minority who caught it.

Surely you guys would get Coronation Day. Like the show but with better acting.
