Working on the "Levy model" of buying cheap and to the minimum, our priorities have got to be better version of what we have in the areas of:

1. LCB - Romero is class, Dier is steady, but Davies is the weak link.

2. RWB - our optons here are currently very poor. Royal and Doherty, for me are simply not ( and won't ever be ) at the level needed to challenge for anything.

3. CM- we have more than enough defensive players, who can be further developed, but absolutely no quality creative play-makers who can see a pass, or who can control both retaining possession and influencing the tempo of the game.

Quality in those three positions ( with the pick of what we have as back up ) would realistically cost Levy at least £100m, so selling the dead wood is as important as finding the quality required, given their sales will probably generate a third to a half of the funds required. Particularly Ndombele, who we must look to at least £40m.

I am not saying that team would win the title, but would surely at least challenge more than we are currently, and would not cost Levy a fortune to achieve, assuming he secured reasonable money in from the dead wood.

I'd agree with this.

Davies is doing a decent job, but 100% an area where we could improve, retain Davies who can cover here and LB. De Vrij would be an affordable option.

RWB. Doherty shows glimpses but ultimately we could do a lot better and the system requires an effective attacking RWB. Ship him out. Royale has been ok for a first season, where we have changed managers & systems. Defensively looks good, but does have lapses. Offensively his final ball is poor. I really like the look of Jed Spence from an attacking perspective. He might be a liability at the back but as TAA has shown, attack can be the best form of defence - he would be an affordable option compared to say Lamptey, who seems a bit overrated and would be £50m+. He's also HG.

CM We would do with a genuine box to box and I would love Bissouma to be that man. Would probably have to keep Winks purely on the HG rule.

Eriksen on a free if he does good at Brentford

I think we need to add a big player up front. Someone capable of playing across the line. Diaz would have been amazing and decent value. Martinez at Inter would be my ideal choice. Imagine him Kane and Son. Might need Lucas or Bergwijn to be sold on but so be it.

So that lot for £150m. Ship out GLC, NDomb, Lucas or Bergy & Doherty, which may bring in half the amount. £75m net spend

A UCL place this season would pay for that, and getting GLC/NDombs wages off the books would means lots to spare in the wage budget!

Feck all the systems. Spurs just need to score a few at one end, and stop gifting the opposition silly goals.

Did they not have systems "in your day"

Sir Bill Nick..."go out there lads, score a few at one end and dont give them any chances". Managerial genius!

Back in the day the system was pretty well set in stone, goalie, right back, left back, right half, centre half, left half, right wing, inside right, centre forward, inside left, outside left. The system that served the whole of football for 120 years.

Now you have all these do called systems, that when a match starts go straight out of the window. Just modern jargon most of the systems to keep Sky pundis waffling on.

Unbeaten against both of you. The issue is consistency which a good squad can create. If we sign 4 decent players in Summer should make a difference.

Being unbeaten across 3 games means very, very little when you're losing at home to wolves and saints. You'll definitely get better but I reckon you're 6 quality players away from having a squad close to competing.
