6th is very achievable. If we get European league this would be an improvement on last season.

All the crying is because Man U was allowing us to dream about 4th spot. They bought Sancho and Varane

Arsenal spent over 125m

We were never favourite for 4th but fans have short memories. It's good to overachieve but let's stop thinking overachievment is the minimum we should expect.

Until we recruit as aggressively as our rivals 6th Spot is our target.

posted on 25/2/22

6th is the target. Would be very disappointed if we can't finish above Wolves and West Ham.

Would rather come 8th than be in that ridiculous tournament we were in this season though.

Defeatist fans and players. We truly have been scarred for life

We are too easy and too emotional to sustain a league campaign. Even our manager is over emotional. Such extremes from Nuno.

We win....we are Gods
We lose...we are pathetic, the squads pathetic.

The real issue for me isn't the quality, it's the tactics and mentality. If it was the quality then how would we explain performances against Liverpool and City. What is shows is the quality can be there but mentally we are too weak under pressure to be consistent.

Conte needs to learn this club doesn't do pressure so he should just use tactics that are focussed on scoring and not being compact. Select attacking players everywhere but have 3 large CBs to cover aerial balls. Rodon is the best aerial defender we have and still can't get a game.

Conte will celebrate Europa League qualification like another league title

Qualifying for Europa is important imo. Really good competition to be in if managed correctly. Squad players with a sprinkling of first teamers to get top of the group then you can re-evaluate in March when the last 16 starts to decide how hard to go.

It's the best trophy we would be capable of winning.

How is 6th very achievable, Spurs have just been beaten by Southampton, Wolves and Burnley, and lost four of their last five. The form is dreadful and Spurs won`t finish about 8th/9th at best.

Still to play

Leeds (a) Loss
Everton (h) Draw
Man United (a) Loss
West Ham (h) Loss
Newcastle (h) Win
Aston Villa (a) Draw
Brighton (h) Win
Brentford (a) Win
Leicester (h) Draw
Liverpool (a) Loss
Burnley (h) Win
Norwich (a) Draw
Arsenal (h) Loss

16 points more at best on current form, and that is being optimistic. A few of those draws could easily end up with defeats, and a few of the wins as draws knowing Spurs.

Team is low on confidence, and most of the players are like 3 or 4/10s most games.

Sorry Sandy but not sure I agree with your comments, which are a bit strange.

Firstly, as has been said, 6th place, which will get at least a Europa League spot, is very achievable. Yes Utd and Arsenal are probably now over the hill and far away, but there is every chance we can outlast Wolves, and have so many games still in hand of West Ham, who, it is clear to everyone, are running out of steam due to an inadequate squad depth.

Second, you say "Oh we must get behind the team" in the middle of an article slag*ing them off ?

Personally, whilst as frustrated as every other Spurs fans right now, I think we have plenty to play for in the PL.

If the media can stop spreading the doom and gloom for 5 minutes, and let Conte get on with it leaving their latest obvious agenda of trying everything to force him out to disrupt us ( at least until the summer when they will revert to the Kane to City agenda ) we still might have a season left to enjoy.

Spurs could not even negotiate their way out of a farmers group in the Conference with the squad players, so HTF are they going to finish top of any Europa Group, whoever is in the group.

SteveF, believe me mate I am always fully behind the team. But I am being realistic. Sprus have just been pumped by three very average clubs in the space of a couple of weeks, so no real optimism that things will improve until the end of the season, especially as they still have more difficult games to come.

I only say it as I see it. If they do surprise me, well that would be great. But come on, they have been dreadful for weeks now, barring that fluke performance and result at City.

posted on 25/2/22

I think the thing that p1ssed me off most about the Burnley debacle was that we brought none of the confidence and feel good factor that the excellent result and performance at City should have given us into the game.

The last 2 performances highlight the ridiculous roller coaster that us Spurs boys are constantly on. We literally have no idea which Tottenham will turn up at Leeds as the players seem to pick and choose when they are up for it.

We are far too inconsistent to make the top 4 but 6th is very doable if we can win more than we lose for the rest of the season.

I hope Conte hangs around and tries to sort our shambles of a squad out but like Jose I don't think he realised what a crock of shat he was going to be working with.

Sending Ndombele and Lo Celso out on loan and keeping Winks and Sessegnon in the first team squad was so stupid but that's where we're at.

Blimey, you are either depressed or need to switch teams or sports.
Of the list you have put together, there are many teams whose form is clearly worse that ours, but according to you, these teams will suddenly become good overnight.
So we won't be beating Leeds, Everton, Leicester or Norwich ? Leeds could get relegated. Everton could get relegated, Leicester have a worse defense than even we do and Norwich will be relegated. All of these four teams have been awful this season, yet you think we are even worse ?
Yeah, think you should perhaps become a plastic and start supporting the team at the top, like some kids used to do each season when I was a kid. Always thought it funny I went to a school in London, yet was surrounded by Liverpool fans.

Steve merely being realistic mate. I thought Spurs should have won all three against Southampton, Wolves and Burnley, like most supporters did, and they lost all three. Nothing at all to do with being a plastic.

Surely you must see by now that Spurs cannot really be trusted to win any match with confidence. Nearly every Spurs match, whoever the opposition, goes right down to the wire.

Spurs did have a good team four years ago, and should have won a couple of trophies. But the current team/squad is a million miles away from that team, and I would be stupid not to see that.

Look mate, I am being realistic. Can you seriously think any fan is happy with the way things have gone since the New Year.

Like most fans I want Spurs to win every game, but right now, they are not playing well, and you could not be confident of them beating any team. For any supporter to say they are confident of Spurs winning any game right now, they would be lying.

I was actually one of those that thought Spurs would beat Burnley, when most on the board were predicting a defeat.

So I think it is a bit rich that supporters are now having a pop at me for not getting behind the team. When it is has been doom and gloom from most of them for practically the entire season.

I only say what I see, and at the moment I see a not very good Spurs team. If they improve I will say they have improved, but they have to start winning matches before that will happen.

4th is completely over now, but as slim as it is, we still have a chance of a trophy and winning the Fa cup. Would take that over 4th any day of the week. I would say winning the Fa cup and finishing 6th is still very achievable. That would represent a good season. Any Spurs fans that still think we can get 4th, i think you need to get back down to earth

I totally get a bit of realism. No one's under any illusions here. It's just the slightly contradictory tone of your post. When we do win, why cant you find any credit. I thought we were great against city. It wasn't a fluke. And that's my point, we should support the team. All this talking us down (some justified I admit) is just sending all of us in to a death spiral. And it's not a single pop at you, but, come on, when's Mr positive going to hack your account again. He'd needed right now!
