It’s not a case of admitting we were wrong, he was a bomb scare waiting to happen in the Championship, and quite often that bomb went off.

He’s actually a lot better in the premier league than he ever was in the league below and he’s the calm head which I never thought I’d say.

He was brilliant today. Does his job as well as anyone,
and he covers others mistakes. Great leader. Great
captain. Glad he's back. We've missed him massively.

He made the PFA championship team of the year both years under bielsa.

He got himself a rep on the back of some mistakes early in his time here and I agree he did have rush of blood moments… but then got made a convenient scapegoat thereafter. In the season we lost in the play offs - people remember his penalty mistake against derby, but never ragged St Pontus for the catalogue of errors he made during the run in.

Personally, although I liked coops I thought he’d get found out at premier league level… but I was wrong. Under-rated as as a player and as an organiser and a leader.

Hasn’t taken Jesse long to see what he brings to the team either….

When we signed him from Chesterfield I thought he was good but when we finally came up I was not sure he could make the step up, along with several other players.

It's great when your fears are unfounded.

We look so much calmer with Kalvin and Liam back and now we also have a bonus of Rodrigo playing in positions that are realising his price tag - didn't see that coming this season.

Not just more assured at the back now, but a proper leader and calm head. He did go through a period of having a mistake in him, or red card at the wrong time, but what defender hasn’t?

I think the zonal marking might suit him better as well

He’s brilliant has been since day 1 with Bielsa.

Taken 4 years for a lot of the fan base to realise but most seem to be onboard since his latest return has made it obvious.

Struijk can overtake his ability but still needs to learn as his recent poor run has shown. Will be another season before he can displace Cooper as first choice

I have written several articles over the years about Coops, the guy is immense and gives so much to the club, not just in terms of his defending, but also he has mentored several players over the years, I really believe that Pontus wouldn't be half the defender he is if it wasn't for having played alongside Cooper likewise Ben White. I think others have benefitted from playing in the same team.
Also he is a great ambassador for the club, watch him with the mascots both in real life and virtually. He is thoughtful and caring.

Think Struijk will be a flash in the pan who will drop further and further down the order. For the future "Cooper", Charlie Cresswell is the man. Much better defender than Pascal and has all the makings of being a great captain. Watch the U23's, the likes of Max Dean love Charlie.

Struijk has had a bad spell which can happen to anyone. But unfair to write him off Els. He's had some great games for us. Especially towards the end of last season. Cresswell has looked good when he's played. I hope both players make it to the top. There seems to be this thing when players have a bad game they are suddenly rubbish.

Totally agree Outwood

nobody writing him off or saying he is rubbish, just think he isn't the player others see, when struijk and cresswell have been in the same team, charlie has looked the better of the two and he has leadership.
We had four centre backs on the bench yesterday.
