put Mata in charge for the rest of the season and play some youth and progressive football

The 'Interim' label was just a get out clause in case he failed.
He's basically a Trialist Manager who's failed miserably.

No he was always going to be an interim that would take on a role as a consultant for two years after the season finished.
Whats the point? The whole point of his appointment was as an interim while we look for a permanent manager.

Getting rid now would be pointless as we'd be removing the main benefit (his behind the scenes work) of hiring him. If he does leave though I hope he calls everyone out.

I think the club wants to ease ETH in, clean slate etc, take the heat off the new man
People want him involved in the rebuild. I wouldn't trust him to rebuild a Lego set.
