Thats all well and good, but it doesn't mitigate the fact that when you look at cases per capita, it would be the fourth worst performing country in the world. When it has a GDP as high as you have inferred, surely it is a failure to be ranked amongst countries like Botswana for a health crisis response?

A) Covid killed primarily over 65s - of which Florida is top 5 compared to California which is 40th
B) California enforced severe restrictions on everything such as indoor dining, bars, clubs etc, Florida didn’t.
This is the point that doesn’t make sense. If Floridians who are older and more likely to succumb to Covid were able to dine in, drink, socialize etc only died at a ratio parallel to the age demographic then what exactly did desantis do that newsom didn’t?
Newsom locked a state up, and demographically adjusted ended up with exactly the same outcome that “deathsantis” did.
Raw numbers don’t tell the story but feel free to go look at how old the demographic is in Florida and work it out for yourself.
In theory a state that ignored Covid with a very old population should’ve had a death rate significantly higher than California…but they didn’t….

For a state that implemented no Covid guidelines they fared far better than say California which implemented ridiculously severe restrictions.
When you factor in age of population etc Florida clearly came out on top so not exactly sure how you can say a man who didn’t ruin his economy, get recalled because the whole state lost faith in, etc….is deathsantis.

Sweet just ignore that
A) Covid killed primarily over 65s - of which Florida is top 5 compared to California which is 40th
B) California enforced severe restrictions on everything such as indoor dining, bars, clubs etc, Florida didn’t.
This is the point that doesn’t make sense. If Floridians who are older and more likely to succumb to Covid were able to dine in, drink, socialize etc only died at a ratio parallel to the age demographic then what exactly did desantis do that newsom didn’t?
Newsom locked a state up, and demographically adjusted ended up with exactly the same outcome that “deathsantis” did.
Raw numbers don’t tell the story but feel free to go look at how old the demographic is in Florida and work it out for yourself.
In theory a state that ignored Covid with a very old population should’ve had a death rate significantly higher than California…but they didn’t….

Floridas death rate was 144% of California
Floridas population over 65 is 146% of California
If you believe the stats on demographics about those likely to succumb then the numbers add up.
So what exactly did the lockdown achieve in CA? Shouldnt floridas death rate bee crazy higher than that???
