I absolutely love John Candy in pretty much every film he's in. Even his cameo in little shop of horrors is great.

PTA I've seen about 30 times and never fails to brighten my mood.

Hateful Eight

Awful boring film.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not one for you then clearly

I do facking hate that they smashed up a priceless antique Martin guitar though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah that’s unforgivable- surely a replica?

I’m not a fan of tarrantino find there’s a lot of filler dialog he that gets mistaken for ‘clever’ when it’s just filler. Though I did love the set era recreation of once upon a time- it was fantastic.

No replica - but Kurt Russell thought it was. Jennifer
Jason Leigh's shock is apparently genuine.

It was supposed to be but it wasn't.

Absolutely heartbreaking for a guitar nerd like me

Wow. Destroy something priceless for that awfully dull movie.

This is an interesting comment actually. The tipping dialogue at the start of Reservoir Dogs (another great film) for me was originally just a random conversation that felt like filler but a friend of mine who is a much bigger movie buff explained how it's just setting up all of the characters.

Speaking about guitars in movies, it annoys me greatly that Michael J Fox is in 1955 playing a 1958 guitar in Back to the Future...

Apparently they went to Norm's rare guitars for a period correct guitar and they said no to the actual period correct guitar because this one looked better

I need to revisit that movie - haven’t seen it in years. I may revise my opinion. Hateful 8 seemed to have loads of filler. It did tension very well later in the movie, but by then I didn’t care. Once upon a time needed cut down by removing filler too. I find I see that in a lot of his films. Some may see it as character building, and in some cases might be successful but a lot seems to serve no real purpose, or he fails to build the character through it.

I quite liked once upon a time but it felt like a bit of a rambling mess of a story.

Lots of unrealistic conversations leading up to a bit of a nonsensical violent scene. Enjoyable but I didn't come out of it thinking what a great story it was.

I actually think this is what makes things like the Inbetweeners so good. The conversation was all very very realistic, Royle Family was excellent at that too.

I always feel diologue in US movies and TV shows feels far too clever and forced, and nothing like a real everyday conversation.

Inbetweeners is awesome- top5 goat comedy show for me. Consistently and brilliantly funny. Totally agree on that.

Little shop of horrors (The version with candy) is great

One of my guilty pleasures and I grew up hiring it out weekly from the local video shop

Crazy to think that John Candy was in his 30s when making the likes of Buck and P,T&A. Looked so much older.
