Liverpool have spent over 900 million ffs, why are people talking them up like they're Leicester in 2016?? They've splashed out so much money on that side but people ignore it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's absolutely no context to this. From when to when? Net? gross?

The good thing is that you're consistent in that I disagree with pretty much everything you've said and ever will say. Your diatribe about how to treat employees on another thread a while back speaks of the total lack of respect people have for you on this board so I can't say I'm surprised you've popped up here to vomit your opinions on others.

If Liverpool have spent in recent years it's down to their recent success. When Klopp first joined they had one real star in Coutinho and a relatively modest spending budget. They sold him and got every single transfer decision right. I wonder how in the 6-7 years he's been at the club, his net spending compares to other clubs. I bet it wouldn't be much different to Spurs, who have gone in the other direction.

Surely as a United fan you understand that money doesn't automatically bring success. You've spent more than anyone and you're an effing mess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool spent hugely on individuals, breaking records at the time for the players.

Money does get you success but it is how you spend it. Liverpool bought 2 players who have been brilliant for them, and United bought a few who brought no success at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who cares if they spent huge on VVD and Allison. They used the Coutinho money to do it. They bought Coutinho from Inter for £8.5m. That investment turned into a £160m sale to Barcelona. The only thing to focus on is where the money is coming from. The money the likes of City and Chelsea spend comes from the pockets of the owners. The money Liverpool have spent comes directly from shrewd player sales. It's no different to what clubs like Spurs do, or used to do.

There was a time we could have sold Kane, Dele and Eriksen for probably £350m and reinvested. We didn't. One had six months left and was sold for 17m. One went totally stale and is now worthless and the other is clearly running his contract down.

The only thing stopping us from doing what Liverpool have done is out inability to invest wisely. Nothing else. To accuse Liverpool of big spending is only part of the story. Given the club's model and the way Spurs approach things, it should give the rest of us hope. it's not something to shout down. I really don't get it at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 things: 1 mere pointing our that Liverpool did invest heavily in their squad as opposed tp the myth that Liverpool never did so - unlike Spurs.
2nd money does get you success? If Liverpool didn't send on those two players with huge sum, they would not reap the rewards of winning title etc?

The problem is, Varpool play under a different set of rules to everybody else barring Penited and Real Madrid, so maybe only in the Real game will there be some straight and even officiating, or maybe even some Madrid bias like what we saw last night.

I fully expect Varpool to be dragged to victories in all their other games though, through benefit of doubt refereeing (when they need it).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you forgotten this game Billy?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn9fsr8x-bo

We were given a penalty by John Moss even though he 'didn't know' whether it was a foul or not.

Stop closing your eyes to decisions given our way just to suit your narrative.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For every one decision that goes our way, 9 will go Varpool`s way, its really as simple as that. That`s the difference, and I have no agenda, I just don`t like blatant favouritism.

The quadruple would have been buried long ago if the officials did their jobs properly, but the moment Keita was let off a clear red card in the League Cup final put and end to that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You had all the big dodgy decisions in our last encounter

don't like liverpool much, don't hate them either even if they are a bunch of self righteous clams. that said, under no circumstances can they be allowed to win the quadruple. simple cannot be allowed happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
seriously?

their fans, and even worse the media would not shut up about it for the next 50 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would that not be the case no matter who did the quad?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, if say City did it, it would get way less coverage.

Perhaps due to the billions they spend but I'm not seeing it. It would be a massive achievement regardless and talked about until it happened again which would likely be decades and decades.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But no one is saying money doesn't get you success. The point is that Liverpool's model of shrewd investment means that you can dominate the world without relying on owner funding. That's the point. They are what Levy hoped we'd be so we shouldn't be playing down their achievements. Of course you can't achieve anything without money but it's the source of that money that's important here. Every top player knows their worth so unless you've got the funds, you can't buy them. You can, however, coach wisely, sell at the right time, reinvest and climb your way up the ladder organically rather than fast track your way in the same way City, Chelsea and PSG have. All other successful clubs have done it the hard way, including Liverpool. For this reason, they've not bought success, they've worked hard for it, on and off the pitch.

Sandy, Liverpool winning the quadruple is THEM saving football. They're not a financially doped club so they're fighting for the rest of us really. With their budget you'd normally expect them to be around 5th in the league so what is happening right now is frankly astonishing and we should be singing from the rooftops that a club not reliant on money is dominating.

Your agenda against Liverpool is just weird. Why not go after the clubs that are doped. Liverpool are just an extremely well run club and this just smacks of jealousy as far as I'm concerned. You'll deny it, of course, but we all know it's true. Just what is it you've got against them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool have spent nearly £900 million in just five years I would say that was pretty financially doped.

Have you got a breakdown of that cost? With their gross and net spend through transfers, wages and overall club budget they should be sitting at around 5th in the league. Gary Neville pointed out as much on Sky a few weeks back and he's not just a gobby mouth-for-hire on this one. He owns a club. He understands club ownership better than any of us lot. To call them financially doped is just absurd. They're no more doped than us Sandy. We've just made some terrible decisions in the last 4 years or so.

Over a 10 year period, Liverpool are behind Everton and even Villa with regards to net spend. Over the last 10 years Liverpool have a net spend of £347m. Spurs over the same period have a net spend of £336m.

If you're gonna call Liverpool financially doped, are we? Are Villa? It's a ridiculous accusation.

Or another way of looking at it, the following clubs need to bend over, to save football as we know it.

Newcastle, Wolves, West Ham and Villa.

Without the PL title their "claim" has no credibility, in terms of you can't say "look at us everyone, we are the best ever, ever, ever" if they are not champions in their own league.

Hate City for what they have done to ruin our game, but the alternative is so much worse.

Errrr, I feel that way also.

Think you will find the other 90% of fans hate your club also. Probably all the arrogance and entitlement of their moronic fans that might have something to do with it, couple with just seeing Klopp on TV being enough, and that's before he actually opens his gob.

Under Klopp, Liverpool have spent £550m. What was spent before him doesn't really matter as none of those players are at the club excluding Henderson, so you could add his fee and say the squad cost was £570m.

Since Klopp, the club have sold £416m worth of players.

Net the current Liverpool squad cost just over £150m. I'd say that's outstanding myself and hardly doped. We'd have made that back in prize money I'd imagine with all the trophies.
