Part 2

This season was always going to be tough without a Center forward. We got away with it during Covid but weren't convinced we would this season. Still surprised we are Top of the league considering the fitness record of Liverpool and the purchases they have made in the summer and January window. To add to that we lost Mendy, and Torres and didn't replace them when the senior squad was about 20 with both. Yes we gained Grealish and Bernardo didn't leave but oh well, I'm just glad about the Bernardo part.

Strange thing to say but this group may need a bit of a rebuild. I love Bernardo but if he doesn't want to be in the country anymore then I hope we get good fees for him and he finds a top team to continue his career. I wouldn't be against Laporte leaving. Top player but hasn't been great since his injury and I feel he sulks a lot. I like Ake as a reserve CB and think he is better about the place. We also lose Mendy, and Fernandinho, and I would rather see us sell Sterling to Arsenal than Gabby Jesus.

Then again Sterling plays better with a striker so maybe Pep will see it differently. Hope we sign a top replacement for Fernandinho and I wouldn't mind seeing Pogba on a free. As stupid as it sounds but I think Pep will make him a good player. We need a left footed left back. Cancelo has done well there but a left-footed play makes us play better.

I will comment on Grealish mid-way next season but so far the signs aren't great.

You could end up with 95 points ffs.

City dropped points in 4 of the first 10 games of the season thanks to injuries received during the Euros to some of our key players.

I still think it's brilliant to be in the position we are especially without a striker.

The striker thing is a bit overstated when the rest of the side is so good.

While Liverpool have more individual goal threats they don’t really have what you would call a striker either.

Yeah.Could be easier with a top attacker though. The front 3 has been a bit unbalanced without Sane and Aguero. Yes we have won trophies but we have had to rely on midfield to get key goals.

Mane and Salah are better than anything we have up front. Dias is decent but dont quite see his goal threat. will need a season or 2.

We lost a lot with Sane and Aguero. Those 2 made the attack and Sterling would finish it of.

If we signed Kane we would be winning all if not most trophies. Doubt anyone can argue gainst that.

We don't play with a centre forward either and have not played with one since we got rid of Benteke. One of the worst City fanboy excuse.

You may be right but it wasn’t lack of goals that cost you in the CL and FA Cup. It was the other end.

Is Sane a full back then, is Salah back up for Allison?

What I don’t get is why Mahrez doesn’t play more in the league.

The man is doing numbers to rival anyone in all comps.

If you look at the First Leg it actually was.

I get it though, what happened in those 5 minutes in Madrid was inexcusable

No different to what Mahrez, Sterling, Jesus roles are. Klopp mastered the no number 9. Pepsi copied it.

Don’t agree, the difference between City winning the CL is a striker. Look at the changes Grealish alone missed

Anyone half decent will look to score 25+, a Kane/Haaland you’d think could easily hit 40

His overall team play doesn't quite hit the levels the manager wants. He has actually played way more than he normally does. I understand the club are willing to let him go aswell this summer.

Or it could have the Lukaku impact. A number 9 means one less creative player and more space in midfield for the opposition.

That’s City in a nutshell… too much creativity. What they need is a tap in merchant.

Yes but you dominated the game and conceded 3. Same against Spurs at the Etihad.

It would be like us saying yesterday if we had a decent attack we could win 5-4.

Very good, unbiased article. For me you’ll better Newcastle and win the title so you can’t really question Pep or the mentality too much.

What you’re saying about Yaya for them first trophies after the takeover is a bit harsh on Kompany surely? Immense in 2011 and his performances in the last 3-4 games in 2012 were iconic.

posted on 8/5/22

Also in 17/18 yeah Gundo went DM but you’d won the league by January really, so again the last 7 games were just a question of when you won it. I think you’re being a bit harsh.

I meant 2018-19 when we won it by one point.

Kompany was key even in the 2018-19 but we have never had a bigger clutch player than Yaya Toure. Nobody even comes close except Kompany and Aguero

posted on 8/5/22

People forget how many times Yaya was totally invisible in games.

To be honest I think letting Fernandinho go has a bit of a ‘Kompany exit’ about it. You’ll win the league, like 2019, he’ll go and for me it’ll really impact your dressing room in a counterproductive way. He’s obviously at the end now, but he’s been a tremendous player and no doubt he’s a leader too that will be missed.

He was a great player though and crucial to your first trophy wins. I always felt he was a bit picked on by the media too for being lazy, when he probably wasn’t in all fairness.
