If we beat Burnley, then who will be favourite for 4th ?

Interesting question (even if I do say so myself).

I think we all expect to fudge it up against Burnley, it is our nature

posted on 13/5/22

a draw against Burnley would at least mean that that point at Anfield could come in useful.

"Still Holding on" Absolutely!
"Holding" is exactly how the Arsenholds played yesterday.

Arsenal as they obviously have a point more if we both win our remaining games.

It will be a travesty if such a poor side as Woolwich qualify for the CL, the way they have shamelessly exploited a global pandemic and bent the rules, along with collaborating with other clubs and having them bend over to let them win, they absolutely do not deserve it.

shamelessly exploited a global pandemic. Criteria was put in place, Arsenal applied for a postponement based on the criteria and it was accepted.

How can you still be going on about it as if it makes a difference considering you won the other night?

If anything this favours you as Arsenal would have been going into the Newcastle game on a run of 4 wins with a week off before the Newcastle game. Surely having played you midweel losing a couple of players to suspension injury leaving us short at centre back is a huge plus for you?

It's the principle of cheating the system, which Arsenal clearly did at the time, claiming a postponement for having one Covid case, at a time when Arteta knew he was greatly disadvantaged with players injured and banned. He clearly hoped that when it was eventually played, all these players would be back.

So please, don't go down the "well you were better off on Thursday night anyway"

I appreciate "playing with a straight bat" is alien to anyone connected to Arsenal, but trust me, one thing the British public can't stand is blatant cheating to try a get an advantage. Comes naturally to Arsenal, with many examples over the years ( like a game having to replayed because Arsenal don't understand the concept of playing fairly ) but most people hate it and won't forgive.

The good thing is though Steve, Arteta got what was due to him, and right royal stuffing from Spurs. Had he played the game when it was originally due to be played, I think Son may not have been available. So he tried to cheat the system and it backfired big time.

How on earth did we "cheat the system"? We didn't lie about anything, we said we had one covid case as well as players missing through other means and the FA accepted our request to postpone the fixture based on their criteria. To be honest, I didn't like the basis of how it worked and don't think it was the right thing to do for any side. Every club would have been able to fulfil their duty to field an XI so I don't think any games should have been postponed even if you had 4 or 5 covid cases.

That said, Arsenal are of course the club who manipulated the system and they are the ones to blame for all of this. The British public can't stand blatant cheating . Blatant cheating happens all time in football and fans lap it up when their own team does it calling it the dark arts. Everyone else calls it cheating.

Arsenal delibarately called off a game using the COVID excuse and yet only officially 1 player with COVID. Other clubs were denied the permission to call off their games unless they had more than 1 player,, who allegedly even was not part of the first 11?

The main reason Arsenal were calling off their game is because of their main players were in AFCON. Then two days before calling off the game, they sent out players from the squad on to loans, thus making it appear like they now had no players to field.
They didn't want to play NLD without AFCON players who are:

Thomas Partey (Ghana), Nicolas Pepe (Ivory Coast) and Mohamed Elneny (Egypt)

Calling off games because your best players are at another tournament is a cheating act.

No they didn't. The FA had criteria which teams could submit requests for on a game by game basis. Arsenal did this and told the FA they had 1 covid case. They didn't say they had more and they didn't disclose any information that was untrue.

Yes it was a flawed system which I personally didn't agree with but we didn't claim we had a load of covid cases.

Asking for a game to be postponed and it being accepted isn't cheating. You can probably claim it was unethical just like all the other teams that did it. However it could have easily been rejected, like some applications were and the game could have gone ahead.

You can dress it up how you like, Arteta bottled the original game. Didn`t make any difference anyway, Spurs are better than Arsenal by a countrymile. And so it proved on Thursday night.

It's amazing how spurs are still in with a shot at fourth with so many other teams blatantly cheating. No media coverage and crooked refs, it's all against spurs. If you make it you'll be the only legitimate one there

You are ignoring the actual message here dude. Arsenal called the game because they had missing key players all at the AFCON. They used COVID pretext to do so.

How many players infected with COVID at that time? JUST THE ONE!

Why do you cancel the game on a player who didn't even feature in the first 11?

Because Arsenal had other players but not because of COVID.

Using an official pandemic related excuse to call the game because key players at AFCON, is cheating.

Because Arsenal had other players off but not because of COVID.

The FA set up criteria that if you had players missing for multiple reasons including covid that if it was a certain number, you could apply for the game to be postponed. From memory it was just Odegaard with covid at the time but feel free to correct me if that's wrong. Yeah, it's a hugely flawed criteria and ohat was obviously rushed during a crisis.

I've already said I didn't like it and would have preferred the game to go ahead at the time. Many fans felt the same way as both clubs were missing players. Every club had academies so whilst an imperfect solution, it was a better one than having a raft of fixtures postponed.

All I'm stating is the club asked for a postponement and were clear as to why, there was no deception on our part. Your anger at Arsenal should be directed at the FA is all I'm saying.
