I wouldn't have done it personally but it seems to have ruffled plenty of feathers within the Tories and the Daily Mail, so great stuff.

Many English Liverpool fans don't support the national team either. Now I dislike international breaks as much as the next man but World Cups and Euros are much better if your country is involved.

It's an anti London thing as the government, monarchy and national football team are all be associated with the capital.

Not a fan of them by any means but im pretty sure they make the country money if anything. The deals other countries sign with us because of them, tourism etc. pre covid the contributed 19bn or something according to forbes?

How would you go about getting them? If the Monarchy are abolished I'm sure they would like to keep their land and keep the tourist revenue for themselves instead of the current arrangement where we essentially give them £1.29 per person and get much more in return.

They can keep the tourist revenue for touring their homes and estates and pay tax on it, and the rest of their wealth like everyone else.

That's how we get money from tourism from hoteliers, travel agents, plane operators, train operators, restauranteurs, museums, theatres, cinemas, zoos, football grounds, supermarkets, Air BnBs and everything else in-between.

And we can stop spending obscene amounts of state benefits on them.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to boo it is a little classless and odd, IMO.

I’m sure there’s plenty of people of don’t agree with the principle of the monarchy at all sports but I don’t recall booing at anything other than football.

Should have a referendum on it

No, it really is bollix. You have taken one article that 'estimates' a number using unstated and highly questionable assumptions and little facts - absolutely no clarity how they arrive at it.

Pre-covid the UK was getting just below 40m tourists entering the country every year. By your estimate each and every one of them is spending about £500 on the royal family - EVERY single one? Nah, not having that.

Oh, you mean they only come to the UK because of her maj? Bollix - most come to see the place, business, short trips, friends.

Your numbers simply do not stack up. Did not pass the sanity clause. My sources say 2016 £22.6bn was spent by those visitors but you claim somehow £19bn was spent on the royals? Nah, nah, nah.

The lyrics of your national anthem literally say “long to reign over us”.You are singing a song that makes you all look like little subjects. That’s why it should be booed.

Furthermore, sure the monarchy brings in some revenue, but saying that the monarchy is the primary reason of tourism is utter nonsense.

Take the royals away and people are STILL going to visit the UK.
