I think he would be the Neves replacement. And he has been keeping Neves out of the Portugal team on many occasions. Correct that he is taller than Ruben but he is regarded as a tough player with a good record at winning the tackles so no worries about him getting stuck in. Tends to play in the defensive midfield role but does get forward to assist and have goal attempts so could be regarded as a box to box player

Lets get him in, good start if it happens.

yeah he would be the Neves replacement but he's a very different kind of player

if we could get him and add Sanches (or that type of dynamic player) it'd be a good pivot

I'd like to see MGW more advanced as a #10

Agree with all that Tino

Wolves are hoping to sell Cutrone this summer rather than loan him out again. His contract with Wolves ends in the summer of 2023. Having been pretty hopeless in his time at Wolves and his loans at Fiorentina, Valencia and Empoli his market value has fallen dramatically and after coming to us as a promising striker he has now only scored 9 times since 2019. After signing him for £16m we would do well now to get £3m

ultimately we can accuse our strike-force of misfiring but for the most part we create precious little for them to work with

a Pure destroyer like Palhinha alongside a B2B and then a creative player as a 10 will surely give us more opportunities to squander

So behind Everton then

Those lists are a nonsense anyway. Our league throws the most money around so of course English clubs are ranked high.

Lots of tv money comes into it I guess

It’s the brand value that comes from being an established Premier League club which of course we are now becoming. Great to see after so many years in the wilderness. All the uk teams above us in the table have been in the premier league longer than we have. Good to be joining the big boys club

19 years ago today Wolves won a play off final at Cardiff to qualify for the Premier League for the first time. Great day

Palinha, Sanches and MGW would be a great midfield revamp i would say. With Moutinho and Donk as back up.

Look forward to Mouts, Donk and Cundle next season though.

Rumours hotting up about the future of Jimenez who has been linked with clubs in Mexico and USA and also in gem’s backyard in Mallorca. Not clubs that sound like they would want to pay much for him

I go along to some degree with your comments Tino that its not just the strikers fault that we don't score goals, we have to look at what we are creating. But in my opinion the main issue is the strikers. We have very good creative players in Neves, Moutinho, Neto, Podence, Traore and more recently Chiquinho but if those players get towards the danger area then see there is only one, or maybe not any, attacker in a scoring position what are they supposed to do. You can't create a scoring chance unless there is someone in a scoring position.

You are right DJ, but so is Tino.
The forwards rarely score when they get chances and the midfield rarely make chances. Therefore we need to shake up both areas.

yeah it's swings and round-abouts.... the strikers stop making the runs cos the midfielders dont pick the pass, and the midfielders stop making the pass cos the strikers stop making the runs.

Our system worked best when we were a counter attacking, hit them at pace unit. under Bruno we try to be more possession based but ultimately our build up is slow, so Raul drops deep or pulls wide looking for possession, and then as you say no-ones in the box

that for me is why I think either a freshen up of personnel or formation is most needed, a ball carrying midfielder to just break those lines and leave Raul less isolated centrally is key

I used to love watching Paul Ince particularly in the Championship pick up the ball deep and carry it and everyone else forward with him, if only we could have had him in his prime. Moutinho tried to do that a handful of times this season but nobody went with him.

Paul Ince was a leader at Wolves for sure. On a pre season tour of Norway I was staying in the same hotel as the players in Oslo. On the last night the tradition is that all the players go out. Ince pulled all the players together in the hotel reception at the start of the evening and told them where they were going and how they needed to behave, and there wasn't any chance anyone was going to step out of line

Don't think anyone drove a Wolves team on like Mike Bailey.

It always amazed me with Paul Ince that after after the warm up and as he was walking off the pitch to get ready for the match he would always stop and sign autographs for the young kids in the family enclosure. He would never rush them and would be there for several minutes. Brilliant gesture from a real gent.
