with PSG reportedly handing over football-related decision-making power to him.

Find that hard to believe
He's waiting for United to improve before coming in to replace Ronaldo. You heard it here first.
Will never get anywhere near goat status wasting his best years in ligue 1.

He only has another 15 years of his career so its unlikely.
Huge talent wasted. He was the most electrifying young player I’ve ever seen when he was at Monaco.
I'm disturbed by the unhealthy fixation with GOATs on this thread.
Would be surprised if establishing himself as the greatest of all time comes into his thinking. His decision is ultimately a mixture of financial considerations, career considerations and personal ones.
By the way, if PSG are actually planning to give him 'football-related decision-making power' it suggests they are set to repeat the same mistake of prioritising star players over team quality. (Unless the calculation is that star players are more important than the CL trophy when it comes to fulfilling the club's fundamental sportswashing purpose.)

Ligue 1 is a major league nowadays. It’s no less credible than playing in Germany or Italy.
He’s basically going to win a league title per year in France, so if he wins another World Cup and a couple of UCL titles, he’d be the GOAT.
————————————————————————
Rubbish. He’s not in Messi or Ronaldo’s league. Both were far better at Mbappe’s age.

Wasted talent? He’s already a World Champion and won 5 major league titles. His goal & assist numbers, both in Ligue 1 and in the UCL, are through the roof.
PSG will be a contender for all titles for the next several years, and France likewise - so there’s nothing to indicate he’s wasting his talent.
Seems to be a bit of a waste staying in the French League while PSG don't really seem set up well to actually build a squad that can win the CL even with all the resources.
I did read about the contract giving him a say on how thing are run at PSG which if true is madness and another reason why PSG will struggle to win the CL.
He is from Paris so maybe it's simply that he's very happy and comfortable living there too.
I'd be out of there like a shot. Go and compete in a better league. He's never going to be taken as seriously as the legends of the game unless he is playing in a better league. I hope he doesn't waste the best years if his career like Naymar.

Yes he’ll be a wasted talent if he spends his best years in France.
PSG generally look quite a bit off when they play anyone good. Probably because of the lack of competition. He can move to a big club in a top league or spend his career stat padding in France.

That’s just nostalgia. Compare his numbers and achievements at 23 to the other two and he comes out well - certainly far ahead of Ronaldo.
Very few star players have ever won 2 World Cups, only really Pele & Garrincha come to mind - and that was forever ago. No one in the modern era has done it.
If Mbappe did win a 2nd World Cup title (France will be a strong contender in Qatar and he‘ll still only be 27 for the 2026 event), then it would be almost impossible to argue against him.

Ronaldo and Messi were both Ballon D’or winners at 23 scoring 40 odd goals in a season in far tougher leagues.
Of course Mbappe’s numbers are going to be better at that age. United and Barca were not elite or even the best sides in their respective country when they came into the first team.
The World Cup is a silly way to compare players. Are you saying that if France win it again that Pogba or Varane are GOAT contenders?

Mbappe would have mental stats even if he went to Real or City or wherever. Look at Benzema’s stats this year, over 40 goals, and he’s nowhere near the force Mbappe is.
