As I understand it, when you get a player on loan with an option to buy him, you have to pay a loan fee if you don't take up the option. Loan fee was 5.4m quid apparently.

Who did they sell him to?

Two more out the club. Shabani and Dadashov have made permanent moves to Grasshoppers

The MLS season finishes in October and Leonardo Campana will be returning to Wolves, as his loan spell ends in December, unless they take up the option to buy. He has one year left on his contract.

Never made an appearance for us and a strange signing for sure.

Sporting Lisbon

I understand the loan fee situation my comment was more so we pay 8m euros not to sign him but sporting sign him for 10

Surely he'd have been worth us taking at 10

Agree with you Tino, to pay almost as much to not keep Trincao as we evidently could now have paid to keep him seems bizarre. Even if we didn’t want him would have loaned him out and got a return on the investment.

Evidently the loan of Fabio is not complete yet as Wolves want him to extend his contract before letting him go, I think that loan move is frankly ridiculous. To have developed the player for two years to the point where he was looking ready to play more regularly seems utterly stupid to me. As it stands we’re left with the forward line that had a really poor scoring record last season. We badly need a new signing and for Raul to take a time travel back to the player he was 2 years ago

I do agree with the Trincao point and I'm sure there must have been a route to making that work for us, but worth remembering that the option was 25m or something so presumably Barcelona would never have agreed to bring the cost down to ten AND ditch the loan fee, they'll have known they could do what they've just done and get the fee from us and a fee for a sale. Even bearing in mind the 20 percent sell on would have also been in play I'd imagine we might have needed to pay closer to 15m. If they'd insisted on a 50 percent sell on then we'd be betting on Trincao one day being worth 30m to get a penny back for him, which feels pretty unlikely and is the same reason why we didn't want to pay the option.

The Fabio thing seems MENTAL to me. We've kept him and barely played him for two years because we couldn't be ar&ed to get a backup when that game time would probably have really benefitted him. Now he's two years older and looking better, smarter and stronger we're going to pack him off to the Belgian league of all places. Why not send him to the championship if we're going to keep him and Portugal if we want to send him - what on earth does he get from playing in Belgium?

I think it is a make or break move, if he does fire there then I’m afraid he will be a write off.
Shame really.

*sell. I meant send him to Portugal if we want to sell him, good enough league it will be credible if he does well, he'll settle quicker, he knows it and its likely to suit him.

Yes Belgium have a strong international team but few of their squad play in the Belgian league. Not a strong league but at least anderlecht have been their strongest club for many years although not the last few years. If Fabio does go there he may at least get some Europa Conference League experience next season

Apparently we were set to offer Ruddy an extension and he was ready to sign and then we went back on the deal.

Classy.

Wonder which one will be a star a year from now. Shabani i reckon.

I actually agree with DJ. Loaning Fabio is a bad move. He was doing well, albeit not scoring. I sincerely hope Jiminez reclaims some kind of form, but another striker has to come in, if Fabio does leave.

Don't think the Fabio loan is that bad an idea though it is a year later than it should have been of course.

Have to wonder what kind of deals we did with those two. Hard to believe they gave us cold hard cash.

Someone seems to think Chiquinho did his ACL in todays game. No clue if true as yet, nothing online anywhere.

four at the back all game and Coady was available as he played the second half

As we start pre season it’s already becoming clear what the squad has and doesn’t have. Primarily what we lack is the same as the last two seasons, depth to the squad and goalscorers.

Not worried too much about defence where we have Kilman, Coady, Boly, Tito and Mosquera. Although still not sure what we do with Coady if we play a back 4. At wing back we have Jonny and Semedo if we can ever get them fit at the same time then Ait Nouri with Bueno looking good enough to call on if needed.

Midfield it’s same old same old but that’s good news if Neves stays but can Moutinho really do another 38 game season? Dendoncker remains decent cover but a new face is needed.

Podence, MGW, Neto are good but can they contribute the extra goals we need. Chiquinho can add something too.

But following the ridiculous decision to loan out Fabio we are entirely reliant on Raul as a central striker and there were few signs last season he has many goals in him.

Quality midfield and striker needed and soon if they’re to bed in before the season starts. And a few promising squad additions still needed to boost the cover in a few areas

Chiquinho can't add something if the rumours are true and he has an ACL injury.

Some of the comments about Silva are ridiculous, he needs to do this or that or that's it he's finished. He's 19 ffs, give your heads a wobble.

Just seen the goals from yesterday, nice finish from Podence, nice assist by Cutrone for Chiquinho, couldn't work out who took the corner for MGW 's goal though, any ideas?
