The stadium was an absolute shambles and not close to being fit for purpose with a such a high profile game.

But something I’ve always had a head scratch about was why was the game played after that.

Where would your head be at.

I remember reading that they played it due to the fear that more trouble would have occurred had it been abandoned.

A secret would imply that’s it’s under wraps.

On the contrary, it’s well documented, still remembered on the anniversary and wreaths are laid / and candles at Anfield every year.

The big difference with Heysel and Hillsborough was that the latter became one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British history - headed by the Prime Minister of the day.

Because for UEFA & the TV companies a game of football was more important than 39 lives

I would say one of the reasons it isn't 'remembered' is that it happened outside the season - 29th May. So there are no games to have the minutes silence/applause.
Similar with Bradford, that also happened in May.

TV wasn't even that big then. It went ahead because they weren't really prepared and didn't know what to do.

I didn't know that Metro, about the wreaths and candles, good to know and never told. I know it's not a real secret, I was using Lawros words.

Nope, so when similar happens there is chaos. Look at how the CL final was delayed for less...

I’ve seen players interviewed about it saying we were told to get back out and play the game, they knew fans had died, pretty cold if you ask me, from all concerned

It was such an eerie game to watch and players just looked like what are we supposed to do.

Settled by a dubious penalty as well, I think. I remember seeing the pundits doing some half-hearted analysis afterwards, their faces still kind of grey and shocked.

Saw that too. None of them wanted to, and you’d have to be callous or insane to ask. Can’t remember where I saw that, but it’s a incredulous thing to ask people who’ve winessed

Was covered by the BBC and I think Desmond Lyman(spelling) was the presenter and boy he was shook.

I remember Barry Davies commentating and wasn't Souness in the studio?

Hard one to answer clockwork, thought he was still a player back then.

Open to correction though.

Souness was definitely playing, just not for Liverpool.
