If true it could be double pivot partner or a replacement. Time will tell.

He’s a good age, had two good seasons at espanyol. Not a disaster that he couldn’t break into one of the best teams in Europe. However, they’re ok to let him go pretty cheap halfway through his contract so there’s a backstory… hopefully we’ve done our research on why.

He's good on FIFA... That's all I can help with.

Yeah me and the lad transferred over Rasmus and Brendan to leeds on fifa and they were both poor as leeds lost 1-2 and 1-3 to Brentford

Transferred over Roco and he made a big difference in midfield with leeds drawing 2-2 with Burnley and winning 2-1 in the return leg.

Thing about this player (Roca) is, Nagelsmann speaks
very highly about his attitude. Despite not breaking into
a regular spot at Bayern. Nagelsmann said he's not
afraid on the pitch. And he's a leader. His ability seems
to not be in question. Attitude goes a long way when
learning a system. And being a good fit in the dressing
room.

Look at our squad pre-Bielsa. He asked so much of
them. And their attitude was to give everything. No
whining. Every one of them just got on with it. If he has
an attitude like that (or even better...Alioski), then great.

Add to that Orta's been tracking him for a while. If he
and Marsch think he fits JM's system why not? People
weren't exactly in an excited frenzy when we signed
Raphina from Rennes. But, we all know Orta nailed
that one. If we land this kid, we have to give him a
chance. He may also surprise us.

Batty because he hasn't played many recent games. I'm getting a Firpo vibe. Hope I'm wrong. Can't say I trust Orta 100%

The other two signings seem like JM buys.

13 appearances for Bayern last season including 4 in the CL. Better than what we currently have by far, 10 million, good age, seems like a good signing to me.

Agreed Shaun. He's a definite upgrade over what
we rolled out last season. Not a high bar, granted.

He cant get into Bayerns team because there are players before him, maybe we should offer 10mil for one off the players in his way and see how far we get!..

Same at our club, we play the best we have, that doesn't make those on the sidelines bad players!..

Are Villa not looking at him as well?..

Yes, I think you're right Germany.

And I think we all appreciate how deep Bayern's squad is. It's not like he can't get into Burnley or Southampton's
first XI. Bayern's one of the world's elite.

Saying that, the counter is, Firpo. Who couldn't get
into Barcelona's first team. Which blows up my
argument. Oh well.

Firpo defies logic Batty.

Doesn’t seem all that inspiring to me. Did well in Spain then was bang average in Germany where the game is more akin to the Prem.

Firpo didn’t break into the team at Barcelona; came to Elland Road and didn’t exactly set the world alight, with or without opportunities.

All youngsters started out with a proper opportunity at one club or another.

Sometime what works against ours is that they have to cut their teeth in one of the toughest leagues I. The world; the ones that end up in the Premier League then make it in other leagues and are then considered genius; the fact is our won youth rarely get given a proper opportunity.

Maybe the right coach will get the best out of Firpo, as Bielsa did with KP, but is Jesse the man to do it? Re Orta, I don’t have faith in him but I do think our first two signings are excellent.

He's a good passer on YouTube. Does those long range KP type balls from what I've seen.

I've said a couple off times over here mates say he wasn't any good at Leipzig!..

But one or two have said he wasn't really given a proper chance!..

So hopefully he comes good and we have another couple off years off great football!..

Think it's too early to be using Firpo as the barometer for failure, to be honest. Give him another season before writing him off.

I'd be happy with Roca. He did very well with Espanyol, and was one of the hot commodities in Europe for a while. Not worked out at Bayern, but their fans seem to like him, and think he should get more opportunities, so he must do well when he plays.

Big difference between Roca and Firpo, is that Firpo wasn't playing because he got bad injuries, which have carried into this season, and mean he started off tiers behind where we needed him fitness wise. Roca shouldn't have that problem, especially as a summer signing.

posted on 11/6/22

I think firpo has looked alright going forward. Defensively been a car crash. Some of that is positioning, perhaps not understanding the role/system. Stop start with injuries definitely won’t have helped.

Part of me wants to give him a clean slate with JM, part of me has shivers at the prospect of starting the season with him as first choice left back with no quality ‘cover’.

Roca looks like a decent buy at the price quoted. Caveat being why Bayern are so wiling to let him go ‘on the cheap’

posted on 11/6/22

The first thing I would be asking is what is his injury record like. If anything, Marsch's compact, pressing game is going to generate more physical contact than Bielsa's.
As for our new recruits, they look promising, but we dearly need players with Premier league pedigree. Yes, you pay a premium for them, but there is a reason for that. They know the course.
We have shelled out a fortune on players who look promising in the past, including internationals, who simply did not adapt. I would like to see us being linked with known perfromers in the Premier League and quality players in the Championship.
Have we not learned the lesson?

posted on 11/6/22

Look at the stats of the top teams in the Premiership. Plenty of good players who would improve our team are getting less than 20 games a season.

A few journo views doing the rounds on roca. No doubts about his ball playing ability… a few questioning his physical suitability for the Prem. On one level seems a ‘bargain’… on another, he’s not the Duracell bunny player profile you might expect us to go for.
