Liverpool fans' hatred of Southgate just because he doesn't play Trent is so weird.
Why is it so hard to accept that most people don't rate Trent? He's just a nice little player, puts in a good cross, but as a defender he's very suspect and even attacking-wise, he's not exactly Cafu or Maicon.

We had a lucky break. Only decent team we played was Germany who had an ageing team. Next decent team was Italy - who failed to qualify for the WC 22.

James was England’s best player last night. If he can’t find a way of implementing taa and James into the team then it just shows the limitations of Southgate. 2 generational talents. He needs to take the hand brake off.

Look at what a difference the new England cricket coach Brendon McCullum is making and there’s the difference. No more talent than before it’s just a case of bringing out the best in each player.
I don’t watch cricket but I’ll read up on it
If people didn’t see this happening under Southgate then they had their heads in the sand, we were ridiculously efficient in the World Cup (sterling uncharacteristically so) and beat teams who we should have. As soon as we have to unlock a defence or play a decent team we can’t as our attacking players are stifled and we have no attacking style of play under Southgate

What I saw was a team of exhausted players, both mentally and physically, trying their best against a committed team who had more energy.
I understand that TAA had already been released by Southgate to go on a well earned holiday.
Despite the successes our team enjoyed and the fantastic play at times, one of my abiding memories is watching TAA trying to get back into the box, seemingly oblivious to Junior going full belt behind him, to score and for Real to win the Cup. Like the rest of the team, Trent looked absolutely knackered in that game, and he wasn’t alone on that score.
The whole team needs a rest

I don’t watch cricket but I’ll read up on it
