I think its a tough one for the club and can understand why we wont relent. If we bow to any demands salah may have then you can guarentee within a week the agents of vvd, allisson, fabinho trent etc are knocking on the owners doors asking why their clients are om half as much as him. We cant and wont operate like that.

At the same time I can understand salah, if someone is offering to double his wages then why wouldnt he look at that, we all would. As others have pointed out he donates a lot to charity, so thats more he can donate.

I'll be disapointed if he leaves as I think if he stays another 3 or 4 years and keeps going the way he has, he could easily be in the conversation with dalglish and gerrard for greatest ever player.

Hopefully some sort of compromise can be made as in my opinion like mane, I think he'll still be going at an elite level for a few years yet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vvd, Alisson, Trents etc are already tied down to long terms contracts so can't really complain if Salah gets more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can complain though. Thats why they have agents. It would not take long to turn what appears to be a very harmonious group into a split one if players like van dijk for example are on half the money salah is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all there is no proof that Salah is asking for 400k a week. If Salah was given 300k a week there should be no complaints. Goals is the currency and it is the forwards who get paid the most.

Agents can say whatever they want. Mane has been on 100k base while Salah has been on 200k during the same time. That was just poor from Mane agent.

You’ve either read some info on wages or you haven’t. It’s not a hard one is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You need info to tell you this? It's a well known fact and how these clubs came from average to the top teams in the world, otherwise they wouldn't be would they?

Not sure why you need more info to tell you this but you can easy get it on Google.

Not many teams can compete with the wages the state and oil clubs put out. Deciding this is market value because of these few anomalies is short sighted. Those clubs pay ABOVE market value. This is why La Liga are complaining about PSG.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the la liga thing is a bit of a nonsense tbh. The main two have been paying top tier wages for years, part of the reason Barca especially are fooked. And even below that clubs like Atletico aren’t afraid to walk that line…

Most sources have Liverpool wage bill as top 4 in PL, with United, City and Chelsea, before a drop to Arsenal, Spurs and the rest of the league. But even if we ignore the top 3, Salah still earning similar to Partey? Thiago? Ndombele? Kane? If that’s what you consider market value, then he’s worth a lot more than any of those.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of this has any relevance to what I said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Good chat 👌👍

Really. I thought it was the best players who got paid the most. Thankfully for us we have a load of top top players. If you think them other top players would have "no complaints" about salah being paid more (whatever that more may be), then crack on. I dont agree.

Theres no way vvd allisson fabinho are going to just accept that. Thats the dilema the club face. Thats probably why they havent just given him what he wants.

If as I suspect Salah's current deal is very similar to the deal he signed when he joined Liverpool. Basic wage with a performance/goals/assists based bonus worth an extra 40% then he's already on the equivalent of £280k pw.

Mane & Firmino are/were also on similar bonus structures so not on the pittance people seem to think.

I have seen speculation/reports/gossip that Salah has been offered £350k pw including bonuses which works out at approx £250k pw + bonuses of 40% (£100k pw). TBH is a bit of an insult. £300k basic plus bonuses would be worth £420k pw which is close to what I think Salah wants.

That I think is the stumbling block, Salah wants £400k pw but it's a bit over what is acceptable to FSG.

This is of course my opinion based on figures extrapolated from information freely available online.

I do agree the La Liga thing is a bit hypocritical. The top two have been overpaying for years, blowing everybody else out of the water and when they had competition they ended up in financial difficulties trying to keep up. Yes they aren't state run or oil clubs but they have an unfair advantage over the rest of the teams, Barca and Madrid take double what the fourth next take in TV money, for example and around £30m more than third in Atletico.

Although I do agree they have a point with these clubs inflating the market. Although I have never been one to cry about this advantage they have. My issue was when we're now calling it market rate when those clubs are an exception. Yes you can point to a few outliers at other clubs but that doesn't make the point incorrect.

If, big if, Salah does walk next year on a free how do Liverpool fund his replacement?

They have always been a sell to buy club. Especially under FSG.

Jota Diaz and Nunez cost what £135m up front plus add ons down the road. They’re supposedly selling a bunch of folks this summer to make the spending this summer net neutral.

Who is being sold next summer to make room for Salahs replacement? Market is nuts right now. No way Nunez is worth 65m but that’s the market.

With all the supposed excess bench players being sold this summer to cover this summers investments what’s left next summer to cover another 60-70m signing to replace salah?

The days of picking up a mane and salah for 25-30m are long gone. That’s obvious for the price paid for Diaz Jota and Nunez

This is partly true.

Emre can, wijnaldun, origi all went free when we could easily got some fee a year before they left. I think it is also down to wages etc. So although we may not get a fee some of the free wages will prob give some cash.

Nunez is the really expensive one. Jota at 40 mil is a good price sane with Diaz. 40 mil is the sweet spot now compared to the 35 mils 5 years ago

the answer to this is obvious.

from the massive profits we make!

think about it. LFC are projecting record turnover this season and will be reporting the nike deal profits in there. the CL money will boost that now as well. Covid is over and the money is flowing.

Seriously. We just coughed up 40 odd on diaz and 80 whatevers people want to argue about on Nunez and will offset by binning off mane, minamino, phillips, Williams etc.

We have bought tsimikas, thiago and jota for folks during worst football crisis since WWII.

We will have 4 forwards plus whoever and people are still spanking off about LFC falling apart when salah goes.

Guess what?

Diaz was EURO 45mil. how much is 200k per week extra for salah or mane to stay actually work out at never mind his signing on fees etc. 10mil each? for players the "science" bod are reporting already as seeing some slow down in?

Theres always a player out there. We might love them but its a pure business call here. 25 year old and 22 year old in and 30 year olds out rather than new contract. thats the call made and us fans just have to see what happens.

If LFc have a good season again this year and win something then the profits will keep on rolling.

for re record salah was 35mil pounds and diaz was 45mil euros. basically the same. theres ways and means of targeting players that LFC have to apply to try to complete.

We don't go for the bellinghams, haalands, mbappes etc no matter that the press might click bait us with, cos its not the smart business to pay both their clubs and them massive money for more or less the same on field performance of a player within our wages and transfer budget.

What do you think the market rate should be for arguably the worlds best player then? City, United, Chelsea, Bayern, Real, Barca, Atletico and PSG all have their top player on 300k+ pw. Whether or not you believe the ‘400k’ being banded about in the press, I don’t think it’d be unreasonable for Salahs people to say the 200k+15% (pls feel free to correct if you’ve read different) rise Liverpool are allegedly offering is under the current market rate. Ronaldo was on more than that 10 years ago at Madrid.

posted on 20/6/22

If salah was 25 400k per week would be the going rate.

the fact that bayern are shoving 350k a week at mane just says it all about desperation.

The fact is LFC have simply done what LFC can do. They've gone in in 2018 with under the market rate contracts but good contracts to players who felt it was a "good deal" at the time. exactly the same thing spurs did with kane.

The world has now moved on and the players have aged.

The issue for LFC is to put 400k a week down in front of salah for 2-4 years (can't believe much of anything in the press now on this deal) and immediately set the precident that thats the wage for whoiver is next in line for contract.

Its a 40mil commitment to salah who MIGHT (if the science bods are right) drop off his level and not be worth it.

Contracts are two way, and done at a point in time. Salah in 2018 was happy to take what was offered and its made him 40million quid over 4 years. What he is asking for is maybe 4 years at 400k a week or a commitment of 80million. thats fair, he can ask.

the club is looking at this and thinking. well if we do this he might not be worth it for the final 2 years but we are very sure that trent or whoever is going to talk in and start at 400k as well.

Just to remind folk luis diaz walked in last january sat down and signed up for 60k a week. think about that. could be a 20 goal man next season on 60k.

also darwin nunez walked in for 64mil or whatever and is on 140k a week. SUPPOSEDLY.

If we believe those thats 2 players for less than salah's RAISE.

Yeah I'd say market rate would be towards £300k. I'd also say we would need to think carefully about offering a 30 year that and then risking others asking for the same. Although I do think we would pay it to Salah.

Whether we have offered that or not is conjecture and I wouldn't believe anything you read in the media about what has gone on during negotiations. If the £400k figure is true, which I highly doubt, then the club won't be offering it, simple. He'll have to go to one of the state owned or oil clubs to get above market rate.

Not on his Zimmer frame yet is he 😂 you’d expect decent pay rises staying with the same club, with output on his level until you’re well and truly a bit part role

Seems like the final curtains coming down on Jurgen and his merrymen, if Salah leaves too,
With Firmino playing bit parts only these days.

The new gen led by Diaz don't seem to offer that much of a threat in comparison to Mane and Salah combo. Lots of work to do still to make them be at the same level.

Out of them three, Mane is the one I will miss the most watching him play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In reality they've successfully improved on Firmino so that's no worries. It'll be incredibly tough to replace Mane and Salah but if anyone can it's Klopps team. Diaz looks to be potentially a brilliant signing already
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes, potentially but he has proven nothing of the calibre of threat Mane or Salah had. Early days, but I am not sold by their fans crowing right now.
Not going to be easy to replace the partnership of Mane and Salah.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man of the match in the FA cup final but hes not proved anything....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did he score any goals during that game, in normal play?

Remind me again?

I said he works hard, re-read my comment before being so defensive, and he won MOTM for working hard.

I am not saying he may not improve his finishing to the level of Salah or Mane but he isn't there yet imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Won MOTM for working hard

The thick cuuunt certainly puts in a shift on this forum. Posting about his favourite topic, namely LFC.

Using his own dim witted criteria, this probably puts him in line for the poster of the year award.
