I would have liked him.
Like the fact that he his flexible in where he can play. His skill set is quite varied. That will mean that he won’t become redundant if a change of manager is required.
I’m a bit concerned that this summer we are going to once again leave ourselves with a squad so specific to the incumbent managers needs.
So far this hasn’t happened obviously as we have only added. But what happens next will be vital.
Interesting to note how many goals LFC have let go. Mane clearly is a world class footballer and he was also one of their top scorers. Minamino was probably their best player in both cup comps and was top scorer too. Few injuries up top next season and could be a top 4 struggle for Klopp's men.
I like our three additions so far.
However, losing Raph & KP in the next two weeks
makes us look really shaky. I know we're being linked
with every player under the sun, in the 10-30 mill
range. But, we can't hang about like before. And we
do need flexible, intelligent players in case the JM
experiment fails.

A bit surprised hes gone to that league tbh, there were rumours when he went on loan to Southampton he was a poor trainer. Maybe hes not got the fight for the prem and he knows it? Good little player, seems his wimped out a bit im sure he had options of better leagues than the French! Entering the peak years of his career aswell, disappointing. Monaco got a decent deal there though imo.
Looked good surrounded by a very good Liverpool team…difficult to equate how he’d do at Leeds.
Arsenal have put in a lowball offer for Raph…wonder what it was!
when he played for us it was usually with a heavily rotated team often no first teamers.
If we'd signed him then i would have been fine with it, but not massively fussed that he isn't. Think we need a more physical presence up top, to be honest. Got plenty of mobile players to play as a second striker. Need someone who can play the Bamford role. Minamino wasn't that.
Good signing for the price but I weren't that bothered about him tbh. Its not like other prem sides were jostling for him. I do think we should be going in for current PL players and not just overseas players. We should be capable of taking players from the lesser PL teams imo

Marsch still wants a striker leading the line that has physicality and movement to his game. Bamford is probably that for us, so yes we need a similar player still, as all our other strikers are better suited for the second striker role. Other striker should be someone like Yussuf Poulsen, who does a lot of the hard work in the attacking two, allowing for his partner to come from deeper.
Think Bamford can adapt to that Poulsen role. The question is if he can stay fit.

Reasonable price for his talent. Was really
hoping we'd go in for him. He fits what JM's
going to be doing. Seems the club have
other ideas. Maybe his age was an issue?
Seems like we're looking for 25 and under.

Or maybe, just maybe, earning more money playing in the champions league and challenging for league titles was a more attractive option than going to a team who only just manage to scrape their top flight status.
