The thread below about SSN and BBC saying the same thing not good enough for you Robb FFS!?
Although it still sounds like there are plenty of things left to agree and probably another week knowing our team.
Initial fee of under £60m wouldn't be all bad for a player like him, I think it'll be a great signing to be honest.
More importantly, he's our new managers number 1 priority and likely a key component of way he wants us to set up, so it needed to be done.
Hopefully a few more to follow between now and the 8th when they go on tour.

Did RDD do that thread?
Must be someone I filtered too. Could be one of many though, because the older I get, the more I'm aware that life in short and it's not absolutely necessary to read content produced by village idiots.
It was our good friend Frenkie Van Der Hag (U22703)
Who is that? Might have changed names since I filtered him.

The multiple accounts makes it quite a challenge. Filtering RDD has similarities with decapitating a hydra.
For me, bit of an odd 'marquee' signing this. A CM of Bruno, Fred & FDJ will be waked through by most other teams.

Does he not usually play ahead of a CM pair?
From what I've read, a major feature of ETH's management is obsessive attention to the spacing of players from each other when out of possession and in terms of minimising the danger of counterattack.
This is something that was sorely missing in the Solskjaer period and which Rangnick was unable to fix. So I think coaching will make a big difference. However, Devon touches on an important point, which is that FDJ will need a ball winner next to him. He's far better suited to playing in a midfield two than e.g. Pogba. (I mean, he's ideally suited to that, whereas Pogba wasn't suited at all.) But a destroyer he ain't.

No. He usually plays as part of an attacking four which is why our midfield were easy to walk through.

This has been mentioned before. Depends how the rest of the team is set up.
At Ajax they had a CM trio of FDJ, Lasse Schoene and DVB. They never really go walked through, and none of them are tacklers.

Yeah, so you're just being pedantic then. If he is on the pitch with 3 other attackers then your midfield will be walked through, as FDJ isnt going to be able to stop that and is probably less combative than McT.
Would love to compliment this signing with one D Rice.

Yeah but, Dutch League vs Premier League. There is no comparison really.
Need some big hard tacklers in there like hard man Busquets charging round the pitch snapping everyone along with Xavi and Iniesta the combative thugs, then we’ll have a decent midfield.

Yeah, so you're just being pedantic then.
…..
Nothing pedantic about it at all. He has not played a a midfield three for us simply because our last two incompetent managers only played with two midfielders.

Which comes full circle to my point that with Bruno playing, whether notionally as a midfielder or someone who drifts/No.10, your CM will be exposed & they dont really have the qualities to cope with that....McFred is better suited out of possession. FDJ will improve you in possession.
I’m sure I read the other day that FDJ’s best/preferred role is the Busquets role.
4-2-3-1 with Bruno the 10 is probably the idea Ten Haag has for United.
