What??? So you’d lose out on £65m because………….

i hate barca. i would only want to sell to them if we could get upwards of 100m.

Don't give a flying sh ! T where Raph goes. I do wish
him well. The most important thing is, a solid fee we
can reinvest to build a proper squad. And not continue
with this paper thin, injury prone accident waiting to
happen small squad.

The most stupid thread of the year goes too…….

come on long, ya better than this mate.

Obviously i’d like to keep both, but it was the right time to sell. And we had to sell early in the window.

Everyone goes on about Levy at spurs, how great he is at getting top money.

actually what happens is, it drags on and on, they get top money with days of window left, then over pay for a load of garbage they cant get shut of.

Fees just about right for me for Phillips and rafa

Badge on the front of the shirt is more important than the name on the back.

good fee should ensure your manager can buy new players that he wants.

Ha - just joking about going for free, just highlighting I can’t stand Chelsea.

And I like Barca. And they’re not in the Prem.

But Chelsea? It’s enough to make Bates cackle. Reminds me of when we let Cantona go to the Toilet.

At least they haven’t messed us around like Arsenal - straight in at the right price. Props to them for that.

But Chelsea???? It’s enough to turn me to drink

Just escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth and have sold out best two players.
This should be fun

If a player doesn't want to be here no point in keeping them.

Raph and kp were always going this summer. it’s how we spend the proceeds that will shape our season. Both gave their all when they were here. Good luck to them.

Fee too light for kp, about right for raph in my view

Sorry to see him go but the opportunity to play in the CL next season, and hang out in swinging London to boot, must be a big incentive.
£100+ million in our war chest for losing him and KP, if spent wisely, could turn out to be good business.

Wasn't Orta something to do with Raphinha coming to ER in the first place?

I like the three signings so far. And I also like the
players we're being linked to (outside of Adama
Traore). And the signings seem to have positional
flexibility, which Marsch needs for his system.

So I'm going to answer yes.

Swinging London 🤣

Hasn't been swinging since about 1969 😎

Fee for both isn't enough, considering how many clubs wanted both,

How is Rice valued at 100m+ but Phillips goes for £42??

Raphinha is wanted by 3 clubs, as in 3 bids have been submitted, it should have been a bidding war and he goes to highest bidder, if he wants out.

97m is a lot io money, but Orta has to turn an almost relegated club, now it's two best players down into a solid premier league team.

Could be a very tough season ahead.

The negativity of posters on here is understandable, given the season we've just been through.

However, I'd say 45 for KP, a homegrown player, and 55 for Raphinha, bought two years ago for 17, is very good business.

I'd also suggest that Phillips's departure particularly will radically change the squad's mentality, and this will be amplified by the new signings who will all be hungry to prove themselves. I've read somewhere that we're also looking to sign another winger, another striker and another midfielder. On top of that, Marsch is now in charge - very different to Bielsa.

I think we can therefore expect to see quite a different Leeds Utd next season. Will it be an improvement on last year's Leeds? It certainly will be a tough season again but we've got to give them at least until Xmas before we start writing them off, surely?

Happy with both deals. Now do I trust Orta to deliver?

Its a lot of money in the hands of a man who gave us JKA and Firpo. I mean Firpo!! He has to be the slowest brother on Earth!!!

He's going, it really doesnt matter where as long as we get decent money now.

Hugely talented player, who kept us up, I'm sorry to see him go, but if we'd have been at right end of table maybe this wouldn't be such a clearcut decision.

Philips and Raphinha see out from the inside and clearly feel opportunities better elsewhere.

The reality is we escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth and these are our 2 best players, we're a weakened side without them, no doubt about that whatsoever.

We have Poveda coming back and Costa coming back, 2 wingers whom we need to sort out their futures before we get more wingers, especially for a coach who likes to play narrow.

We have brought in 3 players who surely are all meant to be starters, but where do they play, are we saying Ayling out, Klich out and KP slot filled?

Is that really a step up from last season where we finished 17th?

IT feels like a lot more still needs to be done and then you are replacing players you just bought - Firpo, Harrison, James, Koch, Llorente?

And then you have a team half filled with foreign newbies and our experience of foreign newbies is that they take time to settle in this league.

I think that this season ahead is a massive challenge for Marsch and I really hope that these players are up to this level, but Orta's hit rate in buying players suggests that the following will happen for every 3 players bought:

One will be an absolute dud
One will show that there is a player in there but we never quite see it
All three will get injured a lot

Team that barely stay up sell their two best players under a rookie PL manager backed by a board with newly deep pockets but still incredibly short arms.

Hardly a stretch to think Leeds will go down.
