Latest reports saying we're playing hard ball-lite with
Barca. The skint barstewards have offered less than
Chelsea, and over three installments. That bit is
apparently true (fck that BTW). The gaul.

Seems though Orta may have grown a pair recently.
He/club are insisting if the skint shysters want Raph
so bad, then they have to increase their offer above
Chelsea's - if they want to keep it at 3 installments.
No sh1. T sherlock.

Frankly, I'd force the Chelsea move or let Raph sulk
on our bench for the remainder of his contract. He's
now complicit in this attempted daylight robbery.

Raph's not coming out of this with his reputation in
tact. Not that he seems to care.

I think Elland has been saying for a while now,
how can a club a billion in debt, negotiate behind our
backs (thanks Deco you prck), and force the issue,
turn Raph's head, screw us over, and not have UEFA
looking into their conduct? I guess the skint fckers
(like Everton) can do whatever the fck they want.

Chelsea's offer is 60 mill upfront for fck's sake.
In any normal parallel universe this deal would be
done and so would our recruitment re replacements.

I'm completely soured on Raph now. Fck him.

Maddening.

You’re serious aren’t you?

Raphinha is a human. He should be able to have a say in where he wants to live and work. He’s not a slave.

If he doesn’t want to live in London and ply for Chelsea that’s up to him.

If his dream is to play for Barcelona why should he pass up the opportunity.

He has a contract with us for 2 years so he’s ours until we allow him to go somewhere else. But we can’t force him. That’s mad.

He gave everything to save us from relegation all season. Despite knowing that would make his own dream less likely.

If he would prefer to stay here and play for us than go to Chelsea then absolutely brilliant.
If we decide to accept an offer from Barcelona rather than keep him then that’s our choice.

Yes.

So everything Raphinha has done over the last 2 seasons is completely soured because he won’t live somewhere he doesn’t want to as you demand?

And if he chooses to stay here as he is contracted to, your solution is to waste his talent on the bench and cost the club a fortune because you are having an almighty strop about it?

Raphinha has a contract with Leeds. And it looks like the only club Raph wants to go to is Barca.

So we either agree a deal with Barca, or he stays for at least another year, maybe until his contract runs out in two.

That's the way it is - as for people demanding he goes, so we can do other business, that's not how it works. The club has the money to do deals, and plenty of others we can sell.

But by all reports, the only place Raph will go is Barca, either now or in a year or in two years. I'm happy for us if we get to keep him.

I think a possible solution to Barcelona trying to do the Raphina deal in installments is after each installment they must loan us one of their first team players, none of their dodgy cast offs, and pay their wages until Raphina's fee is settled.

I would much prefer to make a good deal for Raphinha, allowing him to join the club of his choice, perhaps even compromising on the payments terms, as we seem to be doing.

If he goes to Barcelona, he won't be destroying us as an Arsenal or Chelsea player this coming season!

If he goes where he wants to go, other players will learn that LUFC are not slavers. Players are not just commodities.

But it seems to me that Barcelona must pay a LOT more if they want to pay in instalments. That's just normal business.

Still think Deco has got to be one of the biggest khunts in the world.

Re Deco, well, he's not Putin, I know, but even so...

If the transfer fee is paid in instalments, would there not be a contractual clause stating that the player legally remains an LUFC player until the full fee is paid?

yes that is usually the case with such things as car finance and your mortgage of course if you default they can repossess... send in the Sheriffs!

why are people banging on about installments.

it is nearly how every transfer is done.

It how much the fee is that matters

Cause Barca have form for paying in far more installments than competing clubs and consequently over longer time periods

"So everything Raphinha has done over the last 2 seasons is completely soured because he won’t live somewhere he doesn’t want to as you demand?"

^^^^^

That's your head twisting stuff. Not my words.

I can separate what the player has done - which was
fantastic and helped keep us up - and what he is
doing now. Which is stalling a transfer (60 mill upfront)
in order to push a move to Barca, for less money
over installments. Even though he's still ours for two
more years. And I for one do not trust Barca to
honour any agreement. They're massively in debt.

"And if he chooses to stay here as he is contracted to,

^^^^^

You really think if he can't manipulate this move to
Barca he's going to give us 100%? His head's not
just turned, it's lusting after and day dreaming about
donning Barca's kit. The chances of him making
"business decisions" on the pitch to safe guard his
health readying for his move come in to play.

What if he gets injured during the World Cup?
His value goes down after this summer no matter
what. We need to cash in for the highest figure.
And move our club forward.

And you're the one using "strop" and "slavery"
for in your rebuttal to my post. You need to calm
down and think about the club first and not Raph.

This is a business. And LUFC should
always come first. If you want the club to advance.

Maybe this Barcelona saga is sone kind of footballing karma for us trying to wriggle out of the Augustin deal on a technicality... no wonder leipzig are not happy with us as we essentially promised to buy the player if we got promoted to the Premier League at the end of that 2019/2020 Championship season.

The bit that bothers me is the thought of us being in limbo over the next few vital weeks on funding for our remaining and crucial recruits including a potential replacement while this fiasco plays out and our targets going elsewhere as the wait to settle this goes on and on.

You said you’re completely soured on him. There’s no exceptions so not sure what I have twisted there?

Raphinha dreamed of his move to Barcelona long before doing everything he could to save us from relegation. A result that was clearly detrimental to his chances of getting the move to Barcelona. So yes I give him huge credit and see no reason why he wouldn’t continue to do the same.

If Raphinha doesn’t want to go to Chelsea. Should he be forced to. If so by who and how? You’re angry at a player because he hasn’t signed a contract he doesn’t want to. Why do you think it’s his duty to?

At the moment he has 2 options. Stay at Leeds or go to Chelsea. If he chooses to stay at Leeds over a move to Chelsea then that’s his choice.

At the moment Barcelona aren’t an option for him and may not become an option. But that’s up to the club, not him. That’s how the contract works. Like you said, it’s a business.

I am calm and I understand what the clubs needs and what the priority is. And yes obviously I want to get the most money for him.

But I’m capable of understanding that other people will have goals and aspirations that don’t align with my own. But that doesn’t mean they’re doing something wrong. And obviously won’t completely sour my opinion of him.
