Point 3- salahs new deal now automatically appears to mean we pay city sort of wages as the going rate. He is the 1st person in the history of the club to be paid this sort of money. How many do city have in excess of 300k? I dont know the answer, id guess 5 or 6.

----------------------------------
Just 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also if thats true fair enough. Id have thought haaland, grealish, de bruyne and sterling without hesitation but fair enough
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Doubt Sterling is. His contract is up next season, won’t have been getting paid 300+ before that. City use bonus heavy contracts just like Liverpool tbh, I think our players just usually get theirs 😉

Actually unless I’m wrong Sterling signed an extension in 2018. 300K a week would have had him earning more than Aguero, Silva, Kompany and KDB, never saw any indication any of those were on that, until KDB negotiated his new deal himself last year.

Not the most ludicrous article to be fair.

Whether the money came from sold players or suspicious sponsorship deals it’s still been “spent”, which is his whole point.

Liverpool fans have often stated they won’t be held to ransom like United and others for crazy salaries and Salah has just undermined that.

The whole point being saying City are doing what Liverpool can’t isn’t really true. The difference being city can seemingly do it Indefinitely whereas other teams have to create specific situations to allow them to.

But you can’t say city pay KDB crazy wages when salah is on 400k, or city go out and spend more than Liverpool on new players when you’ve outspent them in 2022 to date.

Forget wages, sponsorship deals, player sales etc, City have earned more in prize money than any other club over the last 5 years (Liverpool may have edged it last season) so can afford to spend as they don't have any shareholders to pay out.

Liverpool don't pay anything out to their shareholders either.

The difference between the two clubs is more that our owners don't put any money in, we have to be fully self sufficient

This is true but thats not what he alludes to in the article which is my point. He makes out that we are both operating on the same levels which we clearly are not.

We have just smashed our wage budget to keep our star player. His new wage dwarfs the next biggest in vvd. We have had to let go of one of our other stars im sure in part due to the fact we werent prepared to pay 2 players that huge wage, depsite all the new challenge chat. By contrast city have a players on salah sort of wages and then by looks of it, a good few on more than our next biggest.

Again to bring up the transfer spend of both clubs now when it looks by all accounts that city will still be spending another 80m approx before the window shuts is amatuerish at best. The whole article is based on liverpool "skewing" things with "net spend", the points differential thing then he hits out with this belter of a skewer.

I'll say it again I dont complain about citys spending, never have, never will and theres no doubt that they now operate in a pretty well run, self sufficient manner through player sales and as boris says, prize money. But theres now way I'm going to accept an article trying to say lfc and city operate on similar levels, its just not true.

Only utd in the prem operate on city levels. Outside the prem probably only psg and madrid.

I'm actually amazed that was a slightly positive about City in the MUEN.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's now been sacked.

Ah Boris MEN has somewhat softened towards city in recent years

That had James Robson doing City articles.

He's a United fan and that was evident in the shytte he used to write. There was a boycott of his garbage organised on SM which seems to have done the trick as he's gone back to writing about United.

Dodgy sponsorship, dodgy loans amongst the city group, dodgy rights payments from other teams in the group which ARE financially doped...

I don't begrudge city the financing, I do find the attempts to whitewash it by fans highly amusing.

You just believe what you want to believe.

You probably kid yourself that Pep hasn't won all those trophies with the attendant prize money it brings whilst the average gates at the Etihad are 20,000 a season and they all get in for nowt.

Nissan, Puma, Canon, Nexen Tyres etc all fiddle their books to give City extra sponsorship too.

I totally understand why the dippers are so aggrieved at City’s success. When you realise that Liverpool have never had to buy a player they have all come through their academy and they are on on national minimum wage.

Liverpool are still the team that has spent the most in either gross spend or net spend per PL title

No other team that’s won the the PL even comes close to the amount they’ve spent for that one solitary title.

They can’t quite wrap their heads around it tho

posted on 4/7/22

Seen as you seem to have your spreadsheets handy, How much have your lot spent in the last 5 years both gross and net to win absolutely nothing?

Of all the winners no one even gets close to your billion quid plus per title spend

I agree! Criticizing LFC can become a matter for the United Nations to address!
