Striker…

I like the lad at Chelsea who was loaned to Southampton. Broja.

I reckon ETH could make him a proper world class number 9 given what he did for Haller.

Whether Chelsea would sell him to us is another thing though.

He liked Haller so perhaps someone like that (I know he’s been bought so a similar player). And Dolberg.

I believe ten Hag has always operated with a proper CF?

I think he is quite versatile in that respect. He played Tadic as a false 9 in their CL run, and I reckon we have a couple capable of performing that role.

For what it's worth I think Ronaldo will stay as I'm not sure there'll be too much interest in him from the CL clubs who can afford him. Chelsea and Bayern I think are the only possibilities and I still think both are pretty unlikely. Milan maybe? Not sure what their finances are like these days though.

No, but I think he signed a new deal.

Dont think he’s always operated with a traditional #9. One of EtH’s strengths his is adaptability with the players he has.

See what he can do with Maguire then. Old school target man?

Yeah. Very impressed by him. A top coach could do wonders for him.

What about Tammy Abraham? Roma would be reluctant to sell, but if the price is right, we could probably get him.

Calvert Lewin is another option.

If we go for a forward instead of a striker... Antony or Dybala seem the most likely.

Rumours of Dybala in todays gossip column, but didn't that one fall through previously as he didn't fancy Utd?

I quite like Abraham, good all rounder, I'd like to think we can do better though.

To be losing a player capable of giving you 25-30 goals because this team is not up to it should be sending alarm bells around OT. I am so happy this guy came back and now demanding to leave. Some idiots here will have you believe this is for the greater good of this club, waffling about ego.

Top players that win top trophies have big egos. The likes of Benzema, Lewa and Salah winning trophies. They win trophies because they are coached by competent managers and play for competent teams, but united failing is apparently because of the serial winner Ronaldo supported by Mctominay, AWB and the likes of Maguire. You just have to laugh

Yet the team finished comfortably in the CL spots twice without him.

It's a weird one. Ronaldo is obviously a superstar and one of the greatest of all time but things definitely changed when he came back. We became the Ronaldo roadshow.

There doesn't seem to be many top quality strikers out there, sadly... I'd hope someone like Abraham could be a Saha type, chipping in with goals, but also creating a more fluid, cohesive foward line.

We'd likely go for Dybala who is available on a free.
Icardi, Abrams could be options too if we get a decent fee for Ronaldo.

The question is, would anyone pay a fee and Ronaldo's salary? Unless he takes a lay cut?

Ronaldo won’t be leaving this summer without taking a pay cut.

His Salary has already reduced to 380k a week because we didn't qualify for the CL.

All players lose 25% of their wages which makes the down tooling last season even more baffling.

I think playing in the CL will mean more to him than wages. The guy is worth over half a billion quid.

ETH has played with different types of strikers, so I think there's a lot of flexibility there. Of course, it could be that the initial recruitment plan for this window was to build a system around Ronaldo, who was supposed to be staying, so it might be better to go for someone who operates in similar areas. But Ten Hag has worked with Tadic as a false nine, with number nines who are basically finishers, and nines who are good at holding up the ball.
