I think it will be best for everyone. ETH can't really be expected to give priority to a player that is only going to be here for 1 more year and who is in the bottom 1% for pressing. He has to come in and be able to implement his own style and that is going to be difficult for him if he has to manage the attention that comes with playing/not playing Ronaldo.

I would see the move as fully consistent with where his sense of loyalty and his priorities have resided from the very beginning. It would hurt if certain players went to Chelsea or another direct rival. Ronaldo to Chelsea wouldn't rip up his legacy, for me. It would just reinforce what we've always known deep down about him.

I guess there's correlation between seeing things in a very simplistic, binary way and coalescing around certain views about football / politics, and engaging in discussion in a certain, entrenched way.
I started liberally using the filter function because reading content written by people who haven't assimilated a new idea since they were 11 is a massive waste of my time. And I can't trust myself not to get sucked in to talking to them.
Can't see Chelsea wanting him for the same reason utd don't. But Barcelona would be a great fit. They're a mess now.

RR, Vidi and myself were all very vocal about not wanting Ronaldo’s return. We all got quite a lot of stick for it. No surprise then that the same posters are now vocal about wanting him gone asap, and are still getting flak for it.
Don’t care where he ends up, frankly. But I guess there’s a few more £ millions to be had in Cristiano merch where-ever he fetches up. That could swing the deal for one or two clubs.

I’m one of ‘simplistic’ people who was happy with the Ronaldo signing. Goal scoring for a striker is, obviously, the main criteria. He has hardly been a known for pressing even during his first stint here. To be honest, I’ll take the opinions of the likes of his former teammates who all approved of his signing. Keano in particular is not exactly shy when it comes to criticising.
If he wants to leave, he can leave. I don’t want anyone at the club who doesn’t want to be here.
I assume that a deal is done somewhere already, I’d be surprised if this is not the case.
