Can he play right-back too, or is he one sided?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's very left footed. The kind of player who prefers a technically harder outside of the boot pass with his left than side-foot it with his right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I look forward to many happy seasons of him drilling the ball into opponents' shins when crossing.

The Antonio Valencia of the left, only with a smile

His interview has a line about the club 'becoming more Orange'. Hint at de Jong that is you know!

Seems like a very good bit of business to me. Young, cheap, good attitude, good both defensively and offensively and plenty of time to develop.

Even if EtH was sacked I can't see him being a player that won't fit into other manager's plans/ideas.

It might not be the most pressing of positions but we still probably need a back up LB if we are likely to move on Telles and Williams. And the hope is over time he can be our future first choice LB.

Remember all the stick he used to get playing for?

He'd be one of our best players now.

Orange Wednesday tomorrow. De Jong's agent has been at Carrington all morning.

Nah he'd still get stick because his crossing was so frustratingly bad. Plus he's South American!

True.

I see we're linked with another two Argies this summer. We'll never learn will we?

They will be moaning about the food, weather or wanting to join a rival without 10 minutes as per usual.

That says more about how shiiiiiiit Dalot and AWB are than Valencia.

It's crazy isn't it, we don't want them! Stupid lazy foreigners. I guess if they went to City or Liverpool the food and weather would be better because they do quite well there.

Full disclosure, SE85: Tyrell Malacia has one parent from Suriname and one from Curaçao, so he has South American roots.

Does anyone know if he's better than Shaw. I've never heard of him, but imo Shaw is underrated on here.

Never called them stupid, nor lazy or that I don't want them in the country but thanks for speaking for me you utter prat.

Might shock you but I'm a liberal and voted remain too. Fancy that eh?

Our track record as a club with South Americans isn't bad or poor. It's utterly abysmal. There's got to be a reason as to why that is. Just go and look at all the names.

Not an issue with them coming to the PL though. Doesn't bother me at all.

Glad the manager is getting the players he wants, but with money tight, and LB not being a priority, it seems an odd one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He obviously rates him enough to think that it is worth getting him in even though it may not be a priority position. I'd also add that what we think are priority positions may not align with the new manager's thoughts.

That doesn’t preclude you from being reeetarded.

Not many hits in the following list:

19. Alex Telles. 18. Edison Cavani
17. Radamel Falcao · 16. Kléberson · 15. Guillermo Varela · 14. Alexis Sanchez · 13. Fábio · 12. Andreas Pereira · 11. Angel Di Maria · 10. Marcos Rojo. 9. Fred 8. Romero 7. Veron. 6 Forlan 5. Anderson 4. Heinze 3. Valencia 2. Rafael. 1. Tevez

Tevez obviously had one very good season for us but even that went badly for us and he joined City.

I think we're actually cursed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Is money tight? How come?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No champs League.

Commercial deals seem to have plateaued.

We need so many signings that every penny will count
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Roughly £100m cleared from the wage bill.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

nah. Half that.

I think you'll find our track record with virtually all our transfers over the past decade has been abysmal, where they come from is a minor factor why any one of them has failed at the club.

posted on 5/7/22

Tevez the only unqualified success and well we know what he did.

Valencia was good for a while, Rafael reliable if not top level. Heinze was good but made from paper.

The rest with some flashes of quality in between trash.
