Gotta love the Asians

I think China giving the west Tik Tok is worse than covid. Also the content they have is way different to what's over here.

even supposedly mild omicron variant is not pleasant

All wearing a mark does is weaken your immune system to everything else, never had a cold in my life until after wearing one of those everywhere, never again.

In China and other Asian counties it's a smoggy polluted mess, isn't that why they are big into masks in the first place? And you can't praise the people who spread covid in the first place, let alone make them out to be smart or heroic.

masks also enhance the visual appeal of many women i've noticed..."mask honeys"

many look far better with their noses and mouths covered up

Yep, Ace has a point.

We should remove speed limits, traffic lights and seatbelt requirements, as well as the need for people to take driving tests; repeal all building regs and let people knock up what they want; remove age limits on firework sales; allow farmers to feed cattle their dead relatives; moonshine? bring it on; legalise gun, hand grenade and bazooka ownership; and bin the NHS.

People die every minute of every day. Get over it.

Wear a mask ffs. No chance. Covid is no different to the common cold, I had it a few months ago and I’ve honestly had worse hangovers. Not gonna spend the rest of my life phannying around living in a shell to try and dodge some virtually harmless virus, it’s part of life now and we just have to accept it and get the fack on with it.

As for the the people that die or might die of it, so what? If they are that vulnerable the if it’s wasn’t covid it would be the flu, or pneumonia or something else that got them instead. It’s the cycle of life, people die every minute of every day, just as people are born every minute of every day. Get over it.

Got covid twice, both times it lasted a day at best, felt a bit sheet, but had to carry on as normal anyway. Got a cold in march and it took me a month to shake the fooker off. No chance I listen to any kant telling me I'm wearing a mask again

This is actually true.

The thing I find strange is how many posters on here are seemingly "pro mask", and how on every debate about it I would say they appear to be the majority.

So why do I never see anybody wearing them at the football, at gigs, at the supermarket, etc, etc? I would say the percentage of people wearing them is about 0.1% and that is being generous.

People on here wouldn't be lying to sound more virtuous would they? Nah, surely not

Also had Covid twice. It took my smell for 6 months (though not food smells weirdly) but apart from that I would agree with Ace's hangover comparison. Wouldn't put either time I contracted it in my top ten times I've been ill. It will affect some worse than others sure, but they aren't me or my family so to be honest I don't actually care. I'm comfortable enough being called selfish so I won't be wearing a mask again.

Maybe they're just drawing off their own experience, or from the people they know who've had it?

Just because somebody has a different opinion doesn't make them a whackjob conspiracy theorist. I certainly aren't someone who is out there looking for answers to anything, but I've had Covid twice and yeah, it was no worse than a cold. If it wasnt for the whole isolation thing, I would have happily not missed a single day of work on either occasion. So why the hell should I waste a single minute giving a toss about it anymore? It's not a hoax, but it really isn't all that bad either.

We’re great, well half of me. Long before Covid it always p-ssed me off how stupid westerners where about seeing Asians wearing masks in public. They’re doing it to be considerate to you you idiot.

That doesn’t make the statement correct though, does it?

“The symptoms of Covid, for me personally, were no worse than those of a common cold” would have been more accurate.

There’s no obligation to wear a mask in the UK anymore, obviously. I may be wrong, but I don’t think Robb was suggesting the reintroduction of a mandate, either; just that it might be advisable for people to consider doing so in certain circumstances.

And obviously, there’s no obligation for you to give a fack about anyone other than yourself or your family, as you have pointed out.

It's such a strange viewpoint... "It didn't make me feel bad, so my knowledge of it's effects on one (1) person must also be the same for the other 8 billion on the planet".

Thank god scientists don't work like that

Irrespective of your own experiences you accept that Covid symptoms and recovery can be completely different for individual people. That for some (for various reasons) they can be a lot more severe than 'like a common cold' even to the result of death in the most severe cases?

how would it compare to, say, two clinically obese women squatting on your face?

just asking for a friend.

It's great that many individuals are wearing masks but as a whole the human race keeps breeding way too much and cramming themselves into higher and higher densities - which will mean diseases become more frequent and harder to control.

We're completely facked if this madness doesn't stop masks or no masks.

It'll take leadership and of course major changes in how we value those who look after an aging population but long term all this other stuff is just pizzing in the wind otherwise.

*Should just mention that humans giving themselves diseases is one of the least important reasons for our species to get itself under control through vastly reduced breeding but perhaps a reason some of the more selfish minded people can get behind?

Tbf, i think Robb is half trolling but he is also raises a very good point

is the individualistic mentality in the west truely better than eastan/asian ideology of society over personal happiness?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
*eastern/asian
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure it is society based any more than other places. China for instance has many cases of people, including children dying on roads after being run over and then being ignored.

The mask thing is one thing, just like the roads thing above.

Different cultures have their good, their bad, their mad. Asia as mentioned has billions of people in it and it's vastly different region to region
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are also strong collectivist traditions/societies in parts of the West, including, to give just two examples, in North America (until the Brits showed up) and contemporary Scandinavia.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
French and Spanish getting a by?
Russians in Alaska too?
