Had he not played for Utd previously we'd probably be a bit more open to signing an established goalscorer for £20m approx. I wouldn't be against it as such but he's another who is better on the left I'd say.

I prefer him to Dybala but I honestly don't see it happening.

Why can't we go for someone like Toney. I reckon ETH could turn him into a monster CF.

Xenophobia? If I listed my top 10 United players of all time I reckon 7/8 of them would probably be non British you prat.

Depay has been and flopped so it makes sense why I wouldn't fancy his return.

Dybala has just as many red flags as Di Maria had. It reeks of past transfer dealings that one.

Also why is Toney not good enough? Because he's not got a fancy name? Our new manager turned Haller and Tadic into top players so I don't see why he can't do it with Toney. He showed what he can last season at times. In a better team under a better coach I think he could flourish.

I also think Toney would be a good signing and think he has a lot of potential in a fast forward line for a team under ETH.

Don't think he'd be cheap though, and I don't think he's someone we've ever been linked with and we get linked with everyone ffs.

No I don't think we have. It was just a suggestion / idea.

Seen enough from him last season to suggest he could definitely play at a higher standard. He absolutely terrorised Chelsea at the Bridge I seem to remember.

Did you miss the part where the media hasn't suggested we are targeting Depay and this was just brought up as a suggestion by a member of this forum?

I think Depay could be a sensible option. Enough experience on a big stage to not be fazed by playing for United as he was in his first stint. Familiar with playing in systems comparable to ETH's. Probably more affordable than some alternatives, which gives us space to target a world class centre forward sometime in the future.

Overall, I feel especially unclear about who would be the right goal scorer to bring in. It's less about who is the best player available than who fits Ten Hag's plans best - and we know from studying his previous sides that he deploy very different types of centre forward / false nine.

he may of pushed on a lot but he was horrendous is his spell with us. I dont think he is cut out for a top club or the premier league in general. big no.

I was underwhelmed with Depay before we bought him, even more underwhelmed while we had him and he has failed to whelm me since.

So, no thanks.

Watched depay on a few occasions to see exactly what we missed.
