Not sure what peoples expectations are of Lowry but what I can say is he is on a different level than anything else I have seen in the academy over the past few years.

He does have a special talent plus he has a natural level of belief and confidence you don’t always see in kids that age.

It’s up to him how far he goes really.

------------------------------------------------------------

we will see in regards to Lowry, i thin most people get excited when the player is easy on the eye. He is the type who always looks to try and make things happen which people tend to hype up more it seems.

I suspect we will find out this year if he is gonna cut it. If he doesnt break through regular this year then its doubtful he ever will

-------------------------------------------------------

From what I've seen the expectations are huge, bigger than any youth player for a long time.

He does look like he has real quality. An eye for goal and a real composure and confidence about him.

Hopefully he'll be able to kick on this season and get plenty of games. I'd imagine he'll get most of those in the cups and a few subs in the league.

I'm sure he'll still be in the picture next season as he's only 19 and still needs to develop physically. I don't think it's make or break for him this time.

Would be happy to see Lowry used regularly in the first team. Will be disgusting if Arfield plays ahead of him.

Can see Lawrence playing centrally, Hagi is out for first half is season, so ideally Lowry is backup over that time. He’s looked more than good enough.

And that’s if we don’t sign another AM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd hardly use the word disgusting A tad OTT don't you think?

If Arfield gets in ahead of him it'll be on merit, same with the rest of the team.

We all saw performances from both last season, facts are Lowry’s performances higher. Arfield turned up in the semi final notably and a few others, but overall wasn’t good enough.

In the few games Lowry played he was often man of the match or up there. On merit, Lowry deserves a real chance.

Otherwise we should’ve sold him this summer.

Lowry has performed well but in very minor games with no pressure. Arfield has been playing at our top level. Quite a big difference.

If he trains well and fits in with Gio’s tactics he’ll get a game but he’ll have to really step up and bull up if he’s to be a regular, and I don’t see that happening this season.

I think he’ll get games in the cups and mostly sub appearances in the league. Any more than that and he’ll be doing really well and on target to be a top senior player.

Looks like we’re still going for Tillman. He looks like the real deal. A real top young player. If we get him I’ll be delighted.

ffs, some of the 💩 polishing on juniors and minimal cost players is quite extraordinary on here.

From both sides.

There’s a reason these “amazing” talents are being purchased for maybe €3m euros when we’re weeks away from transfer windows closing.

They’re just not really wanted elsewhere.

Don’t agree with this at all. If you’re flying in those cup games, and don’t then get a chance on the league or pressure games then there’s no point in him staying.

Fine to say you can do well in training, but plenty of the players said how Brandon Barker was often the best player in training…

The bull up thing is also a bit of a fallacy, he did well in those cup games and in the Lowland league, he gets stuck in. You don’t need to be a tank to play that attacking midfield role, christ Billy Gilmour shines for Scotland, he’s far from that and never will be. And that’s in a deeper role.

If we don’t give our best youth player a chance, we may as well bin all the current academy players. He deserves a chance. He might not be ready for it, or take it, but everything so far suggests he will.

Lowry could easily play in those home league games, ease him in, see how he does.

I think we will see quite a few 20 min/ half hour appearances off the bench in league games from Lowry this season. And I expect him start early round cup games at least.

He does need to develop physically but the club are working on that. Don’t think he had the best diet as a kid.

He’s started one home game, the win against Livy at home. And he was man of the match.

Really?

You know/think that Rangers and Celtic were the only teams in for the players signed in that price bracket?

Despite all the reports to the contrary? Despite at least one manager of another team coming out and admitting admitted he was trying to sign Lawrence.

Despite Millwall raging at Lovelace being whipped from under their nose. And I know for a fact rangers did a great job of nipping in for him when other clubs were circling and Millwall were overly complacent.

Despite these reports you have decided absolutely no one wanted them. Except Rangers or Celtic?

So there’s absolutely no attraction to the excellent training facilities (can only speak to Auchenhowie- not sure what shape Barrowfield is in these days), playing in front of 50-60k fans, earning 5 figures a week and, at least in Rangers case the possibility of late stage European competition?

Utter pash.

If the team are doing well, we’re at home, playing one of the bottom teams, then he should absolutely be starting ahead of Arfield.

It’s great to have guys like Arfield around the squad, and his experience would definitely be more important in bigger games, but in those games against teams that will simply defend deep, I’d far far rather someone like Lowry who will make things happen.

Who has been doing the t@rd polishing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly.

For us Colak is expected to be our third choice striker.

Lawrence looks like he will potentially bring something different as he seems to have the very unusual but highly desirable skill of being able to hit the target from >18 yards out.

And Motondo is a young player who cost £11m 3 years ago but hasn’t developed as hoped and is in the last year of his deal. So to get someone with obvious attributes who did well in Belgium last season for £2.5m is a decent punt for a club in the position we are now.

I don’t know anyone claiming these guys are exceptional talents?

I am guessing most of this is aimed at Rangers fans though. Celtics new players they have signed are a back up goalie and another left back.

I think Colak will do better than 3rd choice, looks a good player, based on his handsomeness alone.

Agree Lawrence is great to bring in, I’d almost be happier with him starting on the right over Matondo based on how he’s done in England.

Matondo definitely a good pick up for that value. Clearly has upside given how he did in Belgium. And you’d think even if he doesn’t work out, it’s the kind of player you’re likely to still get 2m for.

We're all excited about Lowry but it's not up to us whether he starts or not, and I'm happy to trust the coaching staff with that one.

I'm just predicting he'll be eased in but will play more games. Hopefully by the next season he'll be a regular. He'll be 20 by then and that's great going.
