Bamford giving it large here. Was fouled earlier and just gave it back.

Should be booked really.

Some tasty stuff going on here. No love lost with these players.

Archie Gray looks to be badly injured. Terrible tackle from McGinn!

Only a booking though.

Game over. 1-0 from the penalty spot.

Bad tempered game with a very bad injury for Archie Gray after an over the top challenge from McGinn.

Hope Gray isn’t as bad as he looked but a leg brace was required for the stretcher.

Ridiculous from both sides and no idea why the managers did not sort it out. There was always going to be a bad injury because the referee clearly was letting everything go with a reluctance to get his cards out until too late in the game. Players flying in with late tackles for a long period of game.

Leeds cannot have any complaints. Equal chance that it was going to be a Villa player injured.

They should ref a pre-season friendly much as they do any other game. Villa were dirty from the onset and the problem with no red cards, McGinn was able to make the challenge he did with impunity.
Ref was very inconsistent, looking to make a name for himself with the two penalty decisions on one hand and failing to clamp down on a dirty Villa performance on the other.

Absolutely spot on Els. Any game of football is played with the same law book. Had he got his cards out and controlled the game better then the challenges would have slowed down. That said though, both sets of players and management could see what was going to happen.

Officials ruined the game for me. No flow to it stopping every two minutes. I thought out refs were bad. Hope Archie is okay. Lack of chances created is a concern but that might be down to the awful ref. Roca was our best player I thought.

Left back a concern and badly need another striker

On the Australian match feed Harrison was noncommittal about still being at Leeds if an offer came in for him……….see you later Jack!

Strange comment by Harrison that.

Very competitive game for a friendly. Meslier kept us in it. Nice movement in the first half, but lacking a cutting edge up front. Left back area is a problem. Coutinho was a different class. Some promising signs, but Harrion sounds like he's off. A striker and a left back in before the start of the season, and I think we'll be OK.

Just looking at the Archie incident. A very bad challenge but at least his ankle didn’t look broken from the way he was holding it. Hopefully just badly bruised.

Yes there were some very poor challenges from both sides but I feel Villa got the rub if the green. They certainly know how to go down but nothing new there.

Some decent play in between to stoppages. Not sure about Harrison going or staying. Seems there might be an offer waiting when he gets home. Newcastle?

Such an unlucky follow through according to Gerrard!

Maybe so on Newcastle for Harrison. The younger hungrier players coming through are the future…….still trying to grasp the shallowness of Harrison though!
Hit the road Jack and don’t you come …….

What is the value of playing PL rivals in friendlies (that are not so friendly) in Oz, and what is the cost?

At the moment I think Jack is struggling with Marsch's system. Has looked very poor through pre-season. One of my favourite players of the Bielsa era but he is clearly floundering at present. I know that he has purple patches and at other times it is hard to see a player there at all.
Roca I think you are being a bit unfair to the guy.

As for Harrison, maybe he just needs a change - to "progress his career." He's been with us for a while and established himself as a PL player. It's time for him to maximise his earnings.

I will be sad to see him go but good luck to him, he's always given his best for us. It'd be a damned shame if he goes to the Barcodes though but better than Man U, I guess.

Agreed. Harrison has been good for us. Yes he had problems last season but who didn’t?

In my mind Harrison's non committal reply is enough of a sign that he will be leaving us before the transfer window closes.

£30million to Newcastle seems to be the most likely destination and fee which I think would explain why the club is bidding quite high for the likes of CDK, Kalimuendo and Gakpo plus rumoured bids for Diaz, Costallenos and even Traore which I know he split opinion with fans but he is quick.

Also a left back, Tymon from Stoke £5million, and a back up keeper look likely incomings which all in all amounts to a further spend of between £30 to £40 million which Jack's sale would help cover the brunt of.

We have Sinistera, James, Summerville and also Arranson who can play wide so I guess they will be our options this season.

Jack will be a big miss but he will probably double his wages and play in a side that challenges for Europe and consequently gives him a chance of making the world cup squad.

Time will tell, but if he goes I wish him well and thank him for his contribution to Leeds getting promoted and staying up but I'll actually be more sad at his imminent departure than KP and Raphina and just hope the club can still survive this season without Jack's services.

Agreed Macca. His goal at Brentford will cement his reputation among Leeds fans. He's made a fine contribution in his time with us.
