Alfred?

Two problems with that guess, 1. he had been dead for 200 years and 2, he wasn't ever king of England. But it's good you tried.

England team didn’t bottle it, we lost the final on penalties. We way over achieved in fact. Nothing but praise for how we came through that tournament.

Bottling is having a golden generation of players either not making tournaments or losing the quarters every time to inferior teams
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Notice I said ‘virtually every’ tournament. We’ve had many ‘golden generations going way back to 1970 and bottled it, apart from very rare exceptions.

Elizabeth was a successful Queen. Victoria I'm not sure she was that good think she actually hid away after her husband died.

Yes Harold Godwinson, you could also make a case for Edgar Ætheling but he was never crowned unlike the hapless Harold who served for almost all of 1066.
The other one you missed out though this really picky is William 3rd who was king alone on the death of his wife.

Leeds comes first for me but I went to the pub to watch the quarter final game last week and it was pretty good to be fair.

The women’s game has moved on a lot in the last couple of years.

I’m hoping they get there, win it and the highlights will be on TV later.

King Canute 995-1035. He was king of four countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and England.

Glad nobody mentioned the King and I, because I've still no idea who he is!..

To me it is like the Olympics when you cheer for your countryman whatever the sport.

If it was the chance for England to win the gold in tiddly Winks, male or female, I would take an interest and champion their cause.

If the women get to the final I will be watching, aswell as keeping an eye on the Leeds game, and rooting for the lionesses especially if it's against "the germans".

Always a bunch of these kind of comments on women’s football threads:

“No! The standard of the football is dire! I’ve never watched a game of it and never will!”

Yeah, nice one genius

Watched the Lionesses destroy Sweden.
Brilliant performance. Brilliant team. Mentally
strong. And many top notch individual
performances across the pitch. Proud.
