Do we ever have a pre season where our players are given a chance before the season starts?..
You look bankers to go down atm. Surviving on the final day and then selling your 2 best players doesn’t scream improvement. Marcos Alonso is joining Barca so Emerson probably won’t be available and it also looks like Cornet will go to Everton.
If it's a no brainer why hasn't anyone snapped him up yet?
And why are only relegation battlers linked to him?

I don't know, he was good for them last season, obvious quality and a great price.

I don't know the answer to that, just saying it the way I see it. I complained last season we looked very short, I can't see an improvement in terms of depth and quality tbh.
Depth i think has improved.
Added
Kristensen/Roca/Arronson/Adams/Sinisterra
Lost
Raphinha/Phillips/Shackleton.
Surely cant expect an injury situation like last season again so Bamford is like a new signing.
Expect to get more from the U23s this season
- Joffy, Greenwood, Gyabi Summerville and maybe even Gray look like being able to contribute more this season than last.
Quality - we will know after 10 games how good or bad some of the players are

I might be wrong, but I'm sure we had about same injury's as everyone else last year, just didn't have the depth to cover key players.
Squad looks weak in quality and depth in some areas. Fortunately, I think we'll be comfortably better than at least 3 teams
Think we're going to be the new Burnley and just do enough to stay up thanks to having weaker sides below us.
Still need a LB, ST or 2 and a talisman in CAM. We're minus Dallas and Ayling already with Forshaw and Sinestera carrying knocks and injury prone players like Cooper, Bamford and Firpo all holding key places within the side.
Of course we are almost certainly facing relegation. We have sold the only two premier level players we had. Ask yourself what was our biggest problem last season.....obviously our defence with 79 goals conceded, only Norwich were worse. What have we done to strengthen that part of our team....nothing. One change, for Ayling, who was the only half decent one anyway.
Fail to address your problems and you will go on to fail....simple!

A reason why we've brought more in then let go, and we're still looking for more!..
We don't know how many more will come in but we will have a bigger squad than last season!..
And some of the youngsters will get their chance, the same as Phillips got his!..
We might be better, we might be worse (hope not mind).
Fingers crossed new lads blend and we get off to a steady start .........

The injury thing - the players who got injured long-term were key players in our lean, mean squad.
No real cover for them meant we were still playing the free-attacking system with players who more often than not didn't score and didn't defend well.
I like our new RB, Roca looks useful, but jury is out on the others.
Bamford still not at 100%. Firpo not 100% even when he isn't injured or suspended.
I think we played more youngsters last season than any other team and look where it got us. Yes, Gelhardt is an asset, but we need to replace the quality we've lost in Philips and Raph, not wait for youngsters to learn or for no-names to suddenly show they are world-beaters.
We need a marquee signing or two. One striker, one De Bruyne-esque attacking mid with vision and a LB to cover the Firpo-shaped hole there.
PS - I agree that the youngsters should get their chance like Philips did, but Philips was poor even in the Championship for a long time before Bielsa pointed him in the right direction. The Premier League isn't a place to blood youngsters unless you've already got control of a particular game and can risk it.
The problem is we've let go Phillips and Raphinha at less than premium prices, so that invites Newcastle to submit a cheeky low bid for Harrison that would only just cover the Cornet release clause. If we do no further business and keep Harrison I think we are still in the bottom 3rd of the table, lose Harrison and then we have to hope there are 3 worse teams than us.
47, same as most players Phillips was slow, but he learnd and was picked by every coach that came in sinse he got his chance!..
Seems they all saw what Bielsa found!..
Like I've said before, a few times, Milner was 16 when he got his chance, ok, it wasn't the Premiership but it was meant to be the worlds best at its time!..

Maddening thing is after three seasons of knowing we
desperately need a top notch left back, a striker who
isn't made of glass, and a solid back up keeper, we still
need a top notch left back, a striker who isn't made
of glass, and a solid back up keeper.
Saying that (and like VOF says), we might be better
than last season, we might be worse. Who knows? We
did stay up for another go of it though. So, I'm really
looking forward to the season. Hopefully, we pull off
some more business before window shuts.

Just being able to play Bamford probably reduces the goals conceded by 10. Appreciate that perhaps defenders could have been upgraded but you defend as a team. The ball at times would not stick up front last season and Bamford defends the near post set-pieces very well.
Plus unlikely we have all 4 centre backs unavailable at the same time this season?
Marsch has said we are actively looking for a striker and a lb so what's the panic?
