The thing about City is I really can't see them getting many more points than last year.

93 points is still a staggering points tally, only achieved a handful of times in the past (and never by United despite decades of dominance).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But can you see Liverpool getting more points than last season and if so what logic would you apply?

The scary thing is that City missed so many chances last season. I know it’s just pre season but I saw Haaland’s first goal for City the other day and if they can repeat that blueprint they’ll add another string to their bow.

Mane just keeps getting better on 606.

Last season he was massively in decline according to many.

I feel Diaz and Nunez can pick up the slack and I am hopeful Jones, Elliot and Carvalho will have a fair bit to offer this season.

There is no ACON this year which was supposed to derail us last season but didn't (again) and we also have some big players not going to the world cup in Salah, Diaz and Robertson.

I fully expect Salah to have a hige season now with a good rest, no ACON and no world cup.

VVD won't be coming back from a serious injury either.

I think there is merit in saying we will be stronger.

No which is why I expect City to win the league.

Tbf statistically Mane has won more PL games for Liverpool than anyone since Klopp took over. Very important player. Salah was catching him up statwise but had a pretty shocking end of the season. As Robbing says, he’s had a rest so might get his mojo back but hard to say if he will or not. City were always a juggernaut but Haaland (again, IF he stays fit) is a goal machine.

Oh and PEDs. Lots and lots of PEDs.

With his future settled now having signed a contract I reckon he will be on fire.

Even in what some people feel is poor form he got 7 goals and 4 assists in 17 games on his return from the ACON.

Sterling started 23 Prem games last season and Jesus 21. Both made 7 sub appearances. Fernadinho helped fill in at the back as did Zinchenko. They'll be a loss for sure imo.

I expect them to do some more business though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City certainly wont be missing Fernandinho filling in at cb, he was awful at the end of the season filling in there. Also that was abit of a freak amount of injuries. All teams would struggle in that scenario.

I would be absolutely stunned if City and Spurs aren’t the top 2 - truly stunned.

This guy is having a competition amongst his fellow spudlings to see who can be the biggest idiot on JA 606.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, just think we’re being dangerously under rated, I mean we’re miles ahead of United
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Miles ahead.what have Spurs done to be rated ? Got 4th spot...thats it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

shown winning form, added to the squad, had a pre season with Conte, have a happy Kane etc

Not saying we will win the league but there are many factors that make us way better now than a year ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So nothing different from last season, just a few extra players, like everyone else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No. More than that. A proven top class manager with a full pre season. Not losing any players and adding plenty, along with clear development and form through last season.... world apart from starting last season in the messy post Jose era, with protracted appointment of the meh Nuno and a wantaway Kane

Everybody seems to be underplaying Fernandinho's loss.

His ability to avoid multiple yellow/red cards whilst committing some crucial fouls earned City a good 5 points per season in recent years.

How did he only average 1 yellow in 5 games when he committed 1.5 fouls per game (most of which were professional fouls)?

Yeah, he WAS a key player but he was hardly important last season and has been declining for a while. Rodri has stepped up and did very well last year and they have Phillips in reserve.

Started 10 games, with 4 of those at CB. Not going to be a big miss at all.

Fernandinho was more a hindrance for City last season. Phillips has replaced him and will likely get more games than he did.

I find it strange City haven't signed a centre back I don't think. They keep having problems back there with injuries.

City have Laporte, Dias, Stones and Ake, with the likes of Rodri, Phillips and Walker able to cover. Don't think they can really add another unless it was a youngster.

Yes and at least three of them seem to have their injury problems last couple of seasons. If Rodri is covering Phillips will be covering him so that's fine. If it's Walker, then Cancelo needs to play right back and Ake left back. I'd say they need a fifth with Ake seemingly being left back cover, if they don't sign a left back.
