We're not going down

will wait and see how we fair against a few PL teams before i change my mind rather than get carried away by hammering a poor italian team who got relegated last year and have probably lost any decent players they had. Still think we are in for a relegation fight but hope not and what you call doom and gloom merchants is people who are realistic. Speaking of doom and gloom where has Dong and his friends gone, They got their wish with Bielsa out but must be surely crying we stayed up. No Leeds fan wants to see their team struggle and only wants the best for the team but dont mean they cant have an opinion when they see things without rose tinted glasses. Our defence is still poor and will still concede a lot against the top PL clubs

Thought Adams looked tidy in defensive mid. Aaronson was excellent and Kristensen is looking like a real find. Some great passes from Arica too. New guys all look good so far.
Llorente looks really unsure of himself when the ball’s at his feet. Scares the bejesus out of me every time he’s trying to play out from the back or is being pressed by the opposition. He’s currently our weakest link.

Only negative was how susceptible we were to a pacy attacker. We will still be conceding for fun against the stronger teams.

Overall, more confident in competing this season, but with this leaky defence we will struggle to get points on the board.

Was at the game. Played well but feet firmly on the ground as Cagliari aint Wolves. New players looked good, Aaronson especially, very lively and creative, his pass for Bamfords goal was sublime. Think we lack depth and still looked took long to cross, pass, shoot in the final 3rd. Think we'll be a plucky side and will be a nuisance, just need 2 or 3 more players in. Not going down on today's showing.

I swear Paddy looks like he's put on 10lbs of muscle.
Looks way more imposing. Thought he looked very good and comfortable out there. Hopefully his glass
days are behind him. If so, he could be massive.

Aaronson looks a real player.

Thought the team calmed any fears that we were
going to be sh 1. t football-wise. Defensively we still
look shaky. Llorente's still a one man clown car. He
and a lack of a real left back is a huge worry. Hoping Cooper's fit soon.

Overall happy. Can't wait for the season to start.

Lots of positives up front and all the ‘top half’ of the team look good enough to win a few games in the Prem, hopefully enough to keep us up. I agree completely about the back - when we got turned over on the halfway line, we had no full backs at all and a desperate race by the centre halfs to get back. If we don’t solve that problem, it will cost us dear in the Prem.

Apparently we lost to a Man city 11 yesterday in a behind closed doors match. Joffy, Summerville, Greenwood, James, Hjelde etc all started and played 90 mins so were not subs yesterday. Not sure what the score was and what the full team was. Strange that Klich didn't play at all. Hope he's not sold as we need back ups. JMs comments after the game indicated he might be on his way.

I was impressed with our attacking play despite the opposition not being of a Premier league srandard you could still see that the new players especially Aaronson will do well for us this season and with the addition of one more centre forward I am fairly confident our goals for column will be more than our goals against... just!

Like everyone else who witnessed the manner in which we conceded two goals I have serious misgivings about the strength of our defence, especially Lorente who seems far too slow. I like our new right back thougjh and I think again with the addition of a new left back and utilising Cooper Struiyk or Hjelda more instead of Lorente in the centre of defence we have enough to finish potentially 12th but probably more realisticly in around15th position.

Great to see Bamford sharp and fit.

My main concern is depth, we need 2/3 more in yet.

We look poor at the back, let's hope we can improve

Why did the subs all spend the second half standing on the touchline, it looked a little strange.

With this team, today showed we would have be confident of gaining immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

With less injuries, I don’t think any of us would have expected us to be relegated last season.

It now comes down to discovery where the standard of this team fits relative to the Premier League and how quickly other teams can work out how to counter Marsch’s system. That will be the real acid test.

This is the kind of article that is bound to come back and bite you. Can you retitle it at least so that you don't look like such an idiiot when we do a Norwich.

The thing is that against the top teams we might just change things a little and unlike Bielsa we will not go daft attacking them.

Maybe the likes of James and Harrison (who was excellent yesterday) will be able to hit these top teams on the break and Marsch might just play a little more defensive against them.

Time will tell when we meet the top teams but I feel he has more than one way to play.

Klich is rumoured to be leaving to ensure he keeps his Poland WC spot. He needs minutes and won't get as many at Leeds it seems.

I thought Harrison was pretty meh yesterday, to be honest. Took too long to do a lot of what he was doing. Similar with a few others. Won't get that much time in the PL.

Adams was the player I was most impressed with. Quick, and always seemed to know where the ball was going to be.

Llorente struggled, but hard playing at LCB as a right footer. Means the pitch doesn't open up the same way. Struijk can't play LB.

Agree with most of the comments on here, we look OK going forward admittedly against weak opposition. Like others I am worried about how easy it is to break with pace against us. They missed a sitter when it was 3-2 as well. Will be harder against PL teams for sure

Klich (from above posts): what did JM say post-match? … also rumours, any links? I for one hope he stays (and gets game time).

Jesse
I don’t know yet. Listen, I really like Mateusz and his mentality has been great. He, understandably, really wants to go to the World Cup.

“All of our guys are trying to figure out how it all fits and it’s an important four or five months for a lot of players. I like having Mateusz here, he’s a great guy and he’s put a lot into this, so we’ll see what happens.“

The 32-year-old has made 178 appearances for Leeds, scoring 22 goals and registering a further 21 assists.

In terms of Klich, you can fully understand why he might be exploring his options.

This coming World Cup is probably the midfielder’s last chance to head to the tournament.

Matheus Klich - a great professional and true servant of the club, has been a storming presence in our midfield, gave us his max, will love him forever - but, as with many of the "old guard," does he still have the legs?
